About this listen

He was the last man in the world she wanted to see. But he might be the only one who could save her.

Ten years ago, Matt Girard did something he shouldn't have. When sweet Evangeline Baker offered him her virginity, he took it. Then he left town and he's never looked back.

Until now. His future as a black ops soldier with the Hostile Operations Team is in jeopardy, and he's come home for a few days before going back to face the consequences of a mission gone wrong.

Matt still makes Evie's heart pound, but she wants nothing to do with him. She's had enough of men who lie and promise things they don't deliver. But when her sister goes missing and her ex-boyfriend turns up dead, she's in need of Matt's special military skills.

With time running out, Matt will put everything on the line to protect Evie and find her sister. Even if it means sacrificing all he's worked for with HOT. Sometimes, the reward is worth the price. Especially when it's the one woman he can't forget.

My Gut Feeling is...This Book is Great

What made the experience of listening to Hot Pursuit the most enjoyable?

Aiden Snow's narration and deep voice, accent for Matt made this listen very enjoyable. He constantly drew me in when he lent his voice to Matt's character and he was able to handle Evie's voice without turning me off. Great job Mr. Snow.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hot Pursuit?

I really liked moments she got to spend with her sister and Matt's conversation he had with his superior at the end. These both stuck out at me as life changing moments.

What about Aiden Snow’s performance did you like?

I don't think I can wax poetically enough to describe Aiden Snow's performance so I will just say that he took my listening pleasure to another level.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Definitely the beginning of the book that set Matt's background and reason for coming home for a while.

Fantastic Military Romance! Great Cajun Accent!

Would you consider the audio edition of Hot Pursuit to be better than the print version?

I think both editions are fantastic and I love the way that Aiden Snow brough Matt Girard to life.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really liked Evie Baker because she was a very strong heroine from the get go. She was independent, smart, and funny and had learned several life lessons for her age. She had been a victim of something horrible and came out of it stronger than ever.

What does Aiden Snow bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Aiden sounds just as I would imagine Matt does. He really brings to the life the cajun experience in the story that you might not pick up on in the book. I also really enjoyed the way that he changed the audio when Matt was speaking with his team via radio. It sounded like I was really listening to a conversation with two people over a two way radio.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I wish I could have but then I also liked having Matt and Evie be a part of my day as I drove to and from work.

Any additional comments?

I am really excited to listen to the other books in this series and have really enjoyed Aiden's narration.

Can you resist a rich military junk?

Good story, a bit repetitious in parts, but the good parts were great... love those men in uniform, and their capabilities..!

The story was enjoyable but somewhat predictable. The narration was fair to good. Would I read/listen to it again – yes.

my first book from Audible.com was a winner

I bought this last week and loved it. I'd already read Hot Pursuit on my Kindle and love it as well as the rest of the HOT series. i figured it would be a good book to try out Audible.com and I was right. i think the man (Aiden Snow) did a good job narrating this book. I love Cajun accents and he did a pretty good job with that when Matt is speaking. I've purchased several books after this one and was not so pleased with some. I returned one after 10 munites cause I couldn't stand the voice used for the character speaking. Very satisfied with Hot Pursuit!

keep the title

I love a cajun accent. And enjoyed Aiden Snow's. Matt, senators son gone military. Yes, he is an Army Ranger in a special unit named HOTT. He's waiting for a hearing on his last mission gone bad where two in his unit were killed. Meanwhile, he visits his friend through school, until the both grew older at 16 and 18 and had sex. Then he left. Her heart was broken and he needed to grow up. The Rangers took care of the latter.

Their reunion ends up in a bad situation with her ex. Not only had he taken her money, ending her dream of her own restaurant. Now her sister is missing, there are some murders and none of it is good. When he calls on his unit to help, under the radar, he puts himself in more jeopardy.

Their personal relationship is a yo-yo. Great start for a series I have several books and another audio. If you like black ops type books, and team military you'll like this. However, there is little contact with his team. This is primarily a lone ops. He gets help, but from afar.

It's Okay

I listened to books 6 and 7 in the series first. Then went back to start at the beginning. Matt's southern accent is super sexy. I couldn't understand why Evie didn't have a southern accent. She was raised in the same Louisiana small town as Matt. Her Momma has a southern accent, yet Evie and her sister Sarah don't. It bugged me throughout the entire book. So far, I like Hot Rebel the best.

HAPPILY SURPRISED!!

I got this on a super sale and figured I'd try out a new-to-me author and narrator. What a great military, second-chance, action-packed romance. This was well-written and held my attention throughout. Loved the H and h. He's a good guy. She's a great gal. None of that, "He's a jerk but not to me," or, "She's sassy and smart yet stupidly runs away from her protection" crap. This was awesome. It had the perfect amount of romance, action, drama and suspense and gave a nice set up for the series which I cannot wait to continue.

Aiden Snow has a smooth, comforting voice with great tone and inflection. His female voices are subtle and well-done. They don't sound like a man's impersonation of a fish wife. He pronounces words correctly, uses accents appropriately and performs the material with the right amount of emotion, with no over-acting or robotic delivery. In short, he's awesome. Worth a credit or cash? DEFINITELY!
