About this listen

Andi loves dogs. So when an adorable stray shows up, Andi wants to save it - but she can't take it home. With the help of her brother Bruce, she rescues the stray and its puppies and moves them into an abandoned house down the block. Then they check in Red Rover, an Irish setter whose owner mistreats him. And MacTavish, who begs for scraps in the school playground. And more...

Andi is thrilled - she's running a dog hotel! But can she and Bruce keep the canine castle going, or will a bark give their secret away?

Editorial reviews

If you happened to enjoy the successful 2009 children’s movie Hotel for Dogs, you might enjoy this lively audiobook version of the 1971 novel on which the movie was based. Performed by the lovely and agile voice of Katherine Kellgren - winner of the 2011 Best Voice in Young Adult and Fantasy award - this short novel is a cute romp about some young friends and a houseful of dogs.

In defiance of her great-aunt, young Andi - a committed dog lover - begins hiding stray dogs in an abandoned house across the street. When other friends and their dogs show up, Andi is both thrilled and scared that her secret will be learned. This audiobook makes perfect listening for a young person while she walks her dog.
