Publisher's summary

Born on the small Greek island of Nisyros, John Catsimatidis immigrated to the States with his family and quickly became a true New Yorker, raised in Harlem. He went to school by day and worked in a small grocery store by night to help his parents pay the bills until, just eight credits short of graduating from New York University, he opted to work in the grocery business full-time.

Today, that grocery business has become the Red Apple Group, a conglomerate with interests in energy, real estate, aviation, baseball, entertainment, and media, including the iconic radio station WABC, where John hosts leading figures in government, politics, business, and economics.

As Catsimatidis has discovered, the American Dream doesn't come with an instruction manual-or even a sign to let you know when you've arrived at the finish line. How Far Do You Want to Go? tells Catsimatidis's dynamic story, from his beginnings in the grocery business to entering the political arena, including a New York City mayoral campaign. He's tried his hand at nearly everything, but he's far from finished with his adventures. Now, he offers listeners a glimpse into the wisdom he's gained-and the excitement he has for what the future holds in store.

The opportunity came and He Knew What to Do.

As John's enterprises grew, he was not afraid to delegate. with good people. This multiplied his efforts. Creating a true American success story.
For me it was a reminder to set your goals, and be confident they will be acheived.it

Should be required reading for every high-schooler

This book should be required for every high school student taking a civics or business class. Every morning my teenage boys and I would listen to this book on our way to school. We were blown away. I never had to ask them twice to get in the car and get ready. They were in it every morning buckled in and waiting for the next chapter. Catsimatidis makes you think about your own contribution to your community and society as a whole. Loved this book!

As an immigrant that loves America, John’s life is an epitome of the American Dream. It is only through his eyes one can appreciate how great this country can be if you are committed to be the best self that you can be. Use it as a giude.

Great life story, so so book

Lots of name dropping. I'm not into politics so several chapters weren't interesting for me however it was admirable to hear author try to bring both sides together and look at character and integrity. I would have liked to hear more details on business deals and biggest mistakes or regrets
