About this listen

Described as ‘a chronicle of events from the future,’ How I Survived the Cthulhu Apocalypse presents the author’s own accounts from 2028 via an alter ego named Ben Walker.

It seems Ben, an ordinary, 50-something man, is fated to lead the world to victory over Cthulhu - but not before unraveling a mystery that goes beyond the Elder god’s first inception in 1926 to incomprehensible realms that transcend our own universe.

On his journey to make sense of a series of cataclysmic cosmic events, Ben must face vicious abominations, droves of those who have become mere husks of their former selves, and a dangerous cult bent on sacrificing our world to The Great Old One. Along the way, he meets a mysterious woman known as The Heretic - who proves to be more important to the world’s fate than he could ever imagine…

Like world war Z but for Cthulhu instead of zombies

Well written and well narrated this tale will take you through the Cthulhu apocalypse from a varying point of views and accounts very similar to how world war z did for zombies. The author is well versed in the lovecraftian mythos and even does a great synopsis at the end of the original stories. Highly recommend for any lovecraft fans as well as any apocalypse fans.

Cthulhu in the 21st century!!

Fun, intense, and fast-paced! The modern references bring Cthulhu into the 21st century while paying a well-crafted homage to H.P. Lovecraft. Hard-core Lovecraft devotees will not be disappointed!
Truly imaginative monsters! Each more horrifying than the last. All of them building up to Cthulhu who lives up to the anticipation for an epic showdown!
The narration is ideal and nails it. I would like to see sequels.

A Modern Twist on Lovecraftian Horror

This is an enthralling blend of cosmic horror and apocalyptic adventure, presenting a unique take on H.P. Lovecraft's mythos. Told through the eyes of Ben Walker, an ordinary man destined to lead humanity against Cthulhu, the story unfolds across a landscape ravaged by cosmic events and otherworldly horrors. The narrative style, reminiscent of 'World War Z,' offers varying perspectives, immersing the reader in a richly detailed apocalypse.

Weber's deep understanding of Lovecraftian lore shines through, providing both a thrilling narrative and a thoughtful homage to the original stories. The book's pace is fast and engaging, keeping readers hooked from the first page to the last. The inclusion of modern references revitalizes the classic Cthulhu mythos, making it relevant and terrifying for contemporary audiences.

The characters, especially The Heretic, are intriguing and crucial to the unfolding mystery. The narration of the audiobook enhances the experience, bringing the terror and excitement of this Lovecraftian world to life. This novel is a must-listen for fans of Lovecraft, as well as those who love apocalyptic tales. Its imaginative storytelling, combined with well-crafted horror elements, makes for an unforgettable journey through a world teetering on the brink of madness and destruction.
