Critic reviews

"This! This is what I needed when I was in high school. It is also what I needed when I was in college, and when I bought my first car, and when I bought my first house, and when I opened my first credit card. Every high school student in America should have to pass a class that uses this book. The real-world examples are relatable and make the reader feel like they are armed with the knowledge they need. It doesn't just make you book smart. It makes you street smart." (Stuart Draper)

“In How to Adult, Jake Cousineau engages readers using a blend of storytelling, analogies, charts and research to deliver key financial lessons. Whether it's comparing index funds to sports teams or interest to pineapple on pizza, Jake has a gift in delivering financial advice in a way that will educate adults, you and old alike!” (NGPF Personal Finance)

This book is pretty simple and straightforward, yet very informative. I never thought I would understand the complexities of the adult financial world, but this book makes things like interest rates, loans, and house payments understandable. The financial world still blows my mind, but thanks to this book, I at least understand how it works. There’s even some realistic advice on how to become wealthy. No scams or get-rich-quick schemes. Also, the narrator’s voice is entertaining. He talks like an understandable human, not some billionaire I can’t understand that expects me to understand.

The best financial book I have ever read

This book was clear and easy to understand for young adults. I would also recommend this book to teens too.

I wasn’t quite sure about this book, but once I got started with the story, I fell in love with the narrator. He put a lot of relatable and down to earth experiences in his books that help connect to greater overall financial topics. As a college student, this book made me feel a lot more secure in basic understanding of personal finance. I would totally recommend this to anyone who’s struggling with your own personal finance or just needs a little reminder. What a great book!

Awesome Breakdown of Personal Finance

This is great! I always wanted to learn more about personal finance but I have tried a few books that were overwhelming. This one was easy to understand and more engaging than I expected. I may be a bit older than his target audience but I would say this book is for anyone who needs to boost their knowledge. I skipped the chapter on paying for college but learned so much from the investing and retirement chapters. I am also getting ready to buy a car so the chapter on purchasing a car and home was wonderful. I feel much more confident about my finances now! Five stars!
