Story
"I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals." - Winston Churchill
In this age of preservatives, overcrowded feedlots, hormones, antibiotics, and quick-cure methods, the only practical way of being assured of quality meat is producing your very own. Moreover, raising a pig is a project particularly suited for a beginning or small farmer for three main reasons. It has a low investment capital, it is a short-term project, and you can acquire a substantial amount of quality food from your family garden for the pigs at negligible cost.-

Story
Thinking outside the box means applying existing knowledge in new, unexpected ways to come up with new ideas and solutions. This is an essential skill in today’s fast-changing world. But saying “think outside the box” isn’t enough - you have to be aware of the box before you can think outside it. The scientific name for this imaginary box is “mental model”. Mental models are useful because they help you learn. They help you make sense of new information and attach it to your existing knowledge. But, at the same time, they can limit your thinking.

Story
When published in 1981, The Mismeasure of Man was immediately hailed as a masterwork, the ringing answer to those who would classify people, rank them according to their supposed genetic gifts and limits. Yet the idea of of biology as destiny dies hard, as witness the attention devoted to The Bell Curve, whose arguments are here so effectively anticipated and thoroughly undermined.

Story
In this short and powerful book, celebrated philosopher Martha Nussbaum makes a passionate case for the importance of the liberal arts at all levels of education. Historically, the humanities have been central to education because they have been seen as essential for creating competent democratic citizens. But recently, Nussbaum argues, thinking about the aims of education has gone disturbingly awry in the United States and abroad.

Story
In Ungifted, cognitive psychologist Scott Barry Kaufman - who was relegated to special education as a child - sets out to show that the way we interpret traditional metrics of intelligence is misguided. Kaufman explores the latest research in genetics and neuroscience, as well as evolutionary, developmental, social, positive, and cognitive psychology, to challenge the conventional wisdom about the childhood predictors of adult success. He reveals that there are many paths to greatness, and argues for a more holistic approach to achievement that takes into account each young person’s personal goals, individual psychology, and developmental trajectory.

Do you want to ask smart questions like Socrates or be an out-of-the-box thinker like John Stuart Mill, and rational like Descartes? These people have at least one thing in common: They were great critical thinkers of their time, and their shared wisdom lived through the centuries. Lessons from Critical Thinkers provides intellectual power to engage with and participate in effective critical thoughts, arguments, debates, reading, and reflection drawn from methods in the history of philosophical cognitive development.

Story
Dr. Peikoff makes a compelling case for a rational system of education by contrasting three approaches to philosophy and the different educational alternatives they propose to replace our present system. He translates the usual abstract discussions in this field into material easily comprehensible to the listener. In the process, he defines a proper methodology and curriculum that will produce thinking high school graduates confident of their ability to achieve their goals.

How to Become a Learning Machine, Quick Start Guide, by HTeBooks, narrated by Trevor Clinger
This book helps and promotes learning, helps with tips on learning. Learning is important in every stage of life. In the book, you can find mechanisms of learning, and lots of tips and tricks on memory, and knowledge retention. It is only 46 minutes long. Just enough to do training, or to listen on way to work/school.
I would recommend this book to scholars, students, adults in long-term education, or anybody who is in the learning process.
