Publisher's summary

How would you like to save $100 or a £100 over the next 30 days? If you have an income and regular outgoings such as food, transport, and entertainment, this guide just might be for you....

The 15 ideas in this book are all tried and tested and within your reach, but listening to this book alone won't save you any money. If you just have to have Heinz baked beans and no other, then the section on grocery shopping won't help you. If you're just too lazy to write a letter to cancel a subscription, maybe this book is not for you after all.

Saving money is not passive - you have to do something, and often it will feel like hard work because most of it is about changing habits. This takes us outside of our comfort zone, and let's face it, that's always going to be uncomfortable.

So if you could really do with saving $100 or £100 in the next 30 days, and you're not going to cry like a baby because you didn't get your Lucky Charms for breakfast and you think you just might survive cancelling your subscription to a magazine that you never read anyway, then listen on....

quick and informative

What did you like best about How to Save Money? What did you like least?

It was a quick read with a few ideas/ways to save money. This was not a life changing, yearly goal setting book. Will require some practice. I plan to use some of these ideas right away.

Good, basic points for saving

This book is geared more for the UK but most of it can still be applied to other parts of the world. The book covers 15 ways to save money. Each of these 15 starts off with a nice break down of difficulty level, time involved, and hassle level. I especially like the hassle measurement as something can be quite simple to do but quite a hassle to get done, such as shopping around for insurance.

The first tip is to shop around for insurance and to do it often, like every 6 months. Now personally, I like showing my insurance loyalty as we've been with crap insurance before and been disappointed. But to each their own. I like the idea of stopping unused magazine subscriptions. After all, many libraries have the major magazines for checkout and some even have online subscriptions now that are far cheaper.

The biggest one that applies to me is using the food I have instead of shopping for more food. Sometimes, I'm tired of what I do have in the fridge and sometimes I am just tired and don't feel up to cooking what I have. Still, there is room for improvement. The author did get a little rambly about his pita bread in this section.

For the UK, coupons haven't caught on like here in the States. However, the author does recommend looking online for discounts or such before heading out. He also points out that the UK has a refund program if your public transportation is more than 30 minutes late. I wonder if some major US cities have this.

Overall, I think this would be a useful little book for folks wanting to get a fresh handle on their finances or young people just heading out on their own. Plus, I really like the cover art.

Narration: Eddie Leonard Jr. has a good voice for this book, sounding interested in the subject without being over excited or bored throughout the entire thing.

Excellent Advice on Saving Money

HOW TO SAVE MONEY gave some excellent advice and suggestions on how we can save money. Savings on things such as fuel, food, and subscriptions. The one I liked a lot was the food section. It makes one think of all the different ways we waste and spend unnecessarily.

Although I wish this book had been longer, I definitely gained some insight into where I could cut corners. Even small things add up over time. A good helpful book by NOEL BYRNE.

EDDIE LEONARD JR. did an excellent job narrating this book. He spoke clearly and kept it interesting and informative. He has a nice vocal style.

Follow Through and You Will Save Money

This was a quick no nonsense book that will help you save money. Many of the things suggested I was already doing but few have helped me to improve my savings ways. Spend twenty to thirty minutes listening to and writing down the tips he gives then implementing them and you will save money. Just following a few of them will help you start to save money.

Some helpful tips

This book had some tips that could be helpful and others that didn't apply to me. A lot of the book revolved around common sense but it was helpful to have it spelled out in some sections. Most parts were specifically geared towards those who live in the UK. I think that those tips could have been broadened in a way to include a wider audience.
The narrator was amusing and made the book more interesting to listen to. He spoke clearly and kept me engaged.

I was gifted a copy of this audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher. This is an unbiased review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
