About this listen
Hudson Taylor is one of the most remarkable of Christianity's heroes. A gawky, determined Yorkshire boy of commonplace origins, mediocre education, and uncertain health, Hudson Taylor lived in the assurance that under God's direction he would someday evangelize China's 400 million souls. Today he is remembered both as the founder of the world-famous China Inland Mission and one of history's great men of faith.
Hudson Taylor left England on September 19, 1853, and did not reach China until the spring of 1894. The long and arduous voyage, persecution, poverty, and the barriers of language and culture did not deter him from his mission. Throughout a life filled with trials of all sorts, Taylor remained confident in his knowledge of God's will and of his care, even in the shadow of death.

Story
There are many things that seem normal or average today that at one point in time seemed absolutely crazy. Smartphones, Wi-Fi, and even the electric light bulb were all groundbreaking, history-making inventions that started out as crazy ideas. Our see-it-to-believe-it generation tends to have a hard time exercising true faith - one that steps out, takes action, and sees mountain-moving results. Many of us would rather play it safe and stand on the sidelines, but it’s crazy faith that helps us see God move and reveals His promises.

One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and author. In this New York Times bestselling biography, Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life—the theologian and the spy—and draws them together to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

The Bible reveals not just butterflies and broken hearts. In Scripture, we see God’s beautiful design for the partnership of marriage. We witness friendships that cross all boundaries. We watch as families navigate the many seasons of life. Our guiding example for them all is the deepest, most abiding, foundational love ever known: God’s unconditional love for His people. In The Love Stories of the Bible Speak, Shannon Bream draws lessons from the good, the bad, and the ugly of Biblical romances, friendships, and families.

Throughout his ministry, Bounds rose early every morning to pray for three hours. Out of this deep prayer experience, he could say, "Without prayer, the Christian life, robbed of its sweetness and beauty, becomes cold and formal, and dead; but in the secret place where God talks with His own, the Christian life grows into such a testimony of Divine power that all men will feel its influence and be touched by the warmth of its love...That, surely is the purpose of all real prayer and the end of all true service."

Hard times come for all in life, with no real explanation. When we walk through suffering, it has the potential to devastate and destroy, or to be the gateway to gratitude and joy. Elisabeth Elliot was no stranger to suffering. Her first husband, Jim, was murdered by the Waoroni people in Ecuador moments after he arrived in hopes of sharing the gospel. Her second husband was lost to cancer. Yet, it was in her deepest suffering that she learned the deepest lessons about God.

But this isn't the first time that God's people have had to learn how to live in a pagan world that opposes God's rule.

Story
The 19th century was an age that witnessed great progress in many areas of exploration and learning. However, according to J. C. Ryle, it was an age of great ignorance too. What particularly distressed Ryle was the scant knowledge of the English Reformation evident amongst his contemporaries. In this lay a grave danger: one of the reasons so many congregations drift from their evangelical foundations is their sheer ignorance of Christian history, and their lack of understanding of the major doctrinal controversies and why they matter.

Scripture is filled with examples of men and women whom God used late in life, often with great impact—Noah, Abraham, Moses, Elizabeth, and Anna, to name a few. They were ordinary men and women who discovered that the latter years of life can be some of the most rewarding and fulfilling. “For them, growing older wasn’t something to be denied or dreaded;” says Billy Graham, “it was to be embraced as part of God’s plan for their lives.” Billy Graham’s life and ministry have been dedicated to the here and now but always with a happy-ever-after in view.

Story
The Apostle Paul wrote his most personal letter while abandoned in a Roman prison, where he suffered abuse. He wrote to believers who lived in the shadow of the Roman tyrant Nero. And yet this letter, Philippians, is the most joy-filled epistle in the Bible. Weaving together modern stories and historical details, Dr. David Jeremiah explores Philippians verse by verse, showing us what it means to be joyful in spite of circumstances.

Story
No Christian wants to place limitations on God, but many of us unknowingly restrict His activity in our lives because we ignore a critical spiritual principle: Honor. It's a concept largely lost in our culture, but as you'll hear within this audiobook, it is core to releasing God's kingdom into all aspects of life. In Honor's Reward, best-selling author John Bevere unveils how embracing the call to honor aligns you with God's value system and positions you to receive all he has for you.

Excellent
Awesome book, really has helped me realize the importance of prayer in everything. Would definitely recommend this. Convicting for certain, am I really living for Christ, or just going through the motions?

The sacrificed life of a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.
Wow!! The sacrifices H. Taylor made to serve his King, Jesus Christ, makes most faithful Christians today look as if we’re living in a wealthy vacation resort. He was a great an example of living fully dependent on God to meet all of his needs. His heart for China is both touching and convicting. Every Christian could learn true, faithful living and humble service by becoming acquainted with Hudson Taylor.

All glory to God
Here is a brief and blessed record of a man after whose footsteps I strive to walk. The seed is planted in China, and will prove the salvation of millions. The seed will also prove to crack the concrete of the Great Wall.

Incomparable
Hudson Taylor is the father of modem missions for reason. His life is one that was dedicated solely for that purpose. He loved it and breathed it. There are few this devout. It humbles the reader in every way. Brilliant.

An Inspiration for Christians
What a full life, devoted to God, Hudson Taylor had. Through many trials, hard work, and love for the Chinese people, and love for his God he did many things.
Loved the narrator.
Since it was a British book, it fits that it was narrated with a British accent.
Well, done.

Worthy and inspiring
Great read on a man of God who in his lifetime saw God bring the gospel to China. His endurance, conviction, simplicity and life are all worth emulating.
