About this listen

Terror stalks a small Virginia town

FBI rising star and criminal profiler Evelyn Baine knows how to think like a serial killer. But she's never chased anyone like the Bakersville Burier, who hunts young women and displays them, half-buried, deep in the woods. As the body count climbs, Evelyn's relentless pursuit of the killer puts her career-and her life-at risk. And the evil lurking in the Burier's mind may be more than even she can unravel.

Terror is closer than she thinks...

The Bakersville Burier knows he's got an FBI profiler on his trail. He knows who she is and where to find her. And he's biding his time, because he's planned a special punishment for Evelyn. She may have tracked other killers, but he vows to make this her last chase. This time it's her turn to be hunted!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audio to my fellow listeners of audio mysteries. Both the author and reader deliver powerful performance.

What other book might you compare Hunted to and why?

I'm not sure, maybe a Jonathan Keller story for the intrigue, but maybe one of Patterson's women's mystery club for it's powerful performance by a leading lady.

What does Janina Edwards bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Passion to the voice of Evelyn. She does a great job of demonstrating the stress Evelyn is under.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wouldn't have had a problem doing that, but I also wouldn't rate it a five-star performance. However, it was definitely captivating.

Any additional comments?

Great story, great narrator, and worth the read or the listen.

Riveting storyline

If you could sum up Hunted in three words, what would they be?

Great heroine good story great bad guy

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No but I always looked forward to riding in my car so I could listen!

Any additional comments?

Narrator does a great job. I usually do not like female voices. This woman was terrific.

Great first in a series

I couldn’t put this book down! Excellent development of characters along the way. I was riveted through to the end!! A must read!!

Thriller!!!

Interesting story line. I found a couple of things bothersome. Evelyn has a gigantic chip on her shoulder, and it's not flattering. Some people use these 'chips' to their advantage as motivators. She's constantly complaining that others don't or won't give her a fair shake because of her sex, race, physical size, etc. At times she feels very sorry for herself because of her mother's bad parenting and boyfriends. I enjoy books with strong female protagonists, but not whiny ones.

However, when she's not whining, I find her interesting. I will give the second book a try.

I have a chip on my shoulder

I will definitely listen to book 2. Narrator was okay but far from my favorite. I would listen to her again if it was a book I wanted to hear.

Great story line!

Enjoyed this book. The reader was good, clearly understood.
Glad I purchased, and will get the next in the series.

Good story

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

Evelyn is an emotionally unstable delicate little flower, incapable of understanding the thoughts and actions of the people she spends most of her time with. Men she encounters either resent her "strength" or fall all over themselves trying to protect her. She's uncooperative, too self-absorbed to consider the wants and needs of the people around her, and oblivious to the potential danger she puts herself and others in. Oh, and she's an ace FBI profiler!

I kept hoping it would get better. It kept not getting better. The story could have been really interesting, but there was too much damsel in distress and not enough focus on the killer or his profile, and that's a problem in a series about a profiler.

I found the narration to be stilted and awkward, which didn't help the story and certainly didn't help Evelyn's likability.

I won't be reading the rest of the series.

Disappointing
