About this listen

Six teens murdered. A suspect behind bars. A desperate father. In a case this shadowy, the truth is easy to hide.

Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore is an expert on killers. She’s spent a decade treating California’s most depraved predators and unlocking their motives - predators much like the notorious Bloody Heart serial killer, whose latest teenage victim escaped and then identified local high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor. The case against Thompson as the Bloody Heart Killer is damning - and closed, as far as Gwen and the media are concerned. If not for one new development...

Defense attorney Robert Kavin is a still-traumatized father whose own son fell prey to the BH Killer. Convinced of Thompson’s innocence, he steps in to represent him. Now Robert wants Gwen to interview the accused, create a psych profile of the killer and his victims, and help clear his client’s name.

As Gwen and Robert grow closer and she dives deeper into the investigation, grave questions arise. So does Gwen’s suspicion that Robert is hiding something - and that he might not be the only one with a secret.

narrator could have been better

the narrator didn't change her voice enough between characters and made it difficult to remember who was speaking.

Wow…what a mind meld!

Psychiatrist Gwen Moore is guilt stricken when she learns of the deaths of a patient and his wife…especially when she had been treating the patient for his murderous thoughts towards his wife. The spotlight is quickly moved to the survivor of a serial killer dubbed the Bloody Heart Killer. When a one night stand turns out to the the father of a victim, Gwen is intrigued. She’s even more so when he, who is a well known legal defender, takes on the alleged killer as his client…as the story takes shape, we are left to wonder about the true identity of the killer. Great ending.

WELL DONE!!!

Excellent, kept me guessing, didn’t want to put it down. Narrator nailed it. It was a pleasure to finally read a good who done it. Still thinking about it.

Finally, unique and somewhat believable “mystery!”

Yea there are points that the author slipped by the “wouldn’t happen” judge (the suicide vs murder), but overall, the plot and relationships and characters all come together and it all flows. Even the unnecessary sex scenes and comments were kept to a minimum (there was a point I was mad id downloaded yet another poorly-written borderline put-in-soft core-porn-to-detract-from-sucky-writing novel). Not amazing, but the best I’ve read in quite a while

Meh 🤷🏻‍♀️ just read the synopsis

It was alright? Not really worth a credit honestly. The ending was extremely anticlimactic. For a thriller I thought I’d be on the edge of my seat anxious of the main character but I wasn’t. I thought she was pretty boring and the rest of the characters were too. The only people who really held my interest were secondary characters, and then even their ending was weird and more of a fizzle than a bang.
