About this listen

What if you found out your perfect childhood wasn’t so perfect? What if parts were so terrible you couldn't even remember...until now?

Marcia Thompson has always had happy memories of growing up an air force brat in the Philippines. Sure, her father could be controlling, but she loved living on base and exploring the jungles with her siblings.

Today, she and her husband, Tony, have worked hard to give their children an equally content military childhood in Hawaii. But when their adopted son and daughter are abruptly taken away, the trauma leaves Marcia emotionally shattered and awakens memories of sexual abuse that leave her questioning whether her “happy” childhood was ever happy at all.

As the recovered memories threaten to destroy the relationships she’s built with her husband, her children, her worried friends, and her doubting family members, Marcia must begin a journey of faith to uncover the truth and reconnect with the frightened child who repressed what happened to her to survive.

Written with compassion and a full spirit, I Met Her Before is a novel that stresses the importance of love when it comes to healing from past trauma, whether that means asking for help from those who care for us or learning to better love one’s self.

A Moving Account of Trauma, Resilience, & Healing.

I recently had the opportunity to read "I Met Her Before", and I must say it left a lasting impression on me. This enlightening and moving novel was incredibly well written, with impeccable narration that brought the story's main character, Marcia Thompson, to life.

I was initially hesitant about purchasing the audiobook version of "I Met Her Before" due to past disappointments with audiobook narrations. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of narration in this audiobook. The choice of narrator was excellent, and the author, Chandra Moyer, along with the narrator, breathed life into the story with a natural and engaging performance that made it difficult to stop listening. The narration was impeccable and helped to further enhance the already well-written story, making it even more impactful.

The novel portrays Marcia's journey through repressed memories, child sexual abuse, trauma, and healing from sadistic trauma. Although it is a fictional work, it effectively sheds light on the reality of sexual abuse survivors' experiences.

I was struck by the author's skill in recounting both Marcia's childhood and adulthood in one story. This novel brings to the forefront the traumas that occur behind closed doors and the emotional burdens that victims often carry.

Most importantly, I appreciated how the novel gave a voice to the voiceless and offered hope to those who may feel helpless. The story depicts Marcia's resilience and her path to healing from the traumatic events of her past. The author's chronicling of Marcia's journey was sensitive and honest, making it an inspiring read for anyone who has endured similar experiences while educating those who have not endured such hardship. This book is a powerful reminder that healing is possible, even after enduring unspeakable trauma.

Overall, "I Met Her Before" is a remarkable novel that offers insight into the realities of sexual abuse trauma. It provides an important reminder of the strength of the human spirit and the power of healing. I am incredibly pleased with this book and grateful that the author shared this story with the world. This book is an important resource for anyone who has experienced sexual abuse trauma, and it serves as a powerful reminder that there is hope for healing. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a profound and impactful read.
