About this listen
Nancy Cartwright, the ultimate Simpsons insider, gives voice to the boy immediately recognizable as none other than Bart Simpson. In this memoir, Nancy traces The Simpsons’ rapid rise to wild popularity, offers hilarious anecdotes about cast members and guest stars, and reveals what it’s like to be at the center of an American institution - one that reinvented the sitcom, rocked the TV networks to the core, and forever changed the face of television.
This new and updated audio edition represents a substantial revision of Cartwright’s 2000 book, My Life as a 10-Year-Old Boy. Now enhanced with multiple audio clips featuring celebrity cameos from the The Simpsons, I’m Still a 10-Year-Old Boy is uniquely suited to the audio experience. Audio cameos included are by Danny DeVito, Elizabeth Taylor, Mickey Rooney, Meryl Streep, Kirk Douglas, J.K. Simmons, and Beverly D’Angelo as well as Simpsons main characters.
Since its debut on the Fox Network in 1989, Matt Groening’s series The Simpsons has become the long-running (more than 30 years strong, with 706 episodes) sitcom on television. It is a beloved and often prescient satirical depiction of American life, epitomized by the Simpson family, consisting of Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie, and - of course - mischievous, rebellious, irreverent Bart. It continues to offer a biting parody of American culture, society, and television as well as the human condition itself.

When Star Wars burst on to the big screen in 1977, an unfailingly polite golden droid called C-3PO captured imaginations around the globe. But C-3PO wasn’t an amazing display of animatronics with a unique and unforgettable voice-over. Inside the metal costume was an actor named Anthony Daniels. In this deeply personal memoir, Anthony Daniels recounts his experiences of the epic cinematic adventure that has influenced pop culture for more than 40 years. For the very first time, he candidly describes his most intimate memories as the only actor to appear in every Star Wars film.

From the macro to micro, Shlesinger tackles it all with her no-bullshit comedic style. Throughout the book, Shlesinger dives from one subject into the next, making her hilarious asides the basis of her stories, much like she does in her stand-up comedy. I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

A super entertaining in-depth look behind the scenes of the Simpsons and how to have the dream life.
Wow! I am so impressed! I can’t say I’ve seen every episode of the Simpsons but I admit I was curious about the person behind this global sensation Bart Simpson.
Boy did I get all my questions answered! This book is an extremely good example of how to do what you love, work really hard doing it, keep your life clean and have gratitude for everyone who helps you along the way. What a truly delightful and inspiring experience. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I laughed again. I ran all my errands and cleaned my house and made meals with Nancy’s gloriously warm and funny voice entertaining me through it all. I never wanted it to end. Such a refreshing, utterly feel-good book especially for this trying time. I am grateful for this book and have referred many people to it. Thank you Nancy, for being a truly honorable example of celebrity especially knowing how many children are looking up to you. ❤️

Oh goodness. I could not stop listening. The journey Nancy takes you on is like riding passenger to her life. I felt my heart swell as Nancy’s spoke about her start to life and having nothing to lose. Crying over loses and unexpected experiences in life. And yes, I finally learned why most cartoons only have 4 fingers.
Highly recommend this book to anyone interested in a funny lady’s life.
