Publisher's summary

Not all of Adam’s stories have happy endings.

“Paris is romantic, and quests are cool. But the threat of a global pandemic kind of sours the whole thing. The good news was if all life on Earth were felled by a plague, it looked like this one could take me out, too. It’d be pretty lonely otherwise.” - Adam the Immortal

When Adam decides to leave the safety of the island, it’s for a good reason: Eve, the only other immortal on the planet, appears to be dying, and nobody seems to understand why. But when Adam - with his extremely capable girlfriend Mirella - tries to retrace Eve’s steps, he discovers a world that’s a whole lot deadlier than he remembered.

Adam is supposed to be dead. He went through a lot of trouble to fake that death, but now that he’s back, it’s clear someone remains unconvinced. That wouldn’t be so terrible, except that whoever it is, they have a great deal of influence and an abiding interest in ensuring that his death sticks this time around.

Adam and Mirella will have to figure out how to travel halfway across the world in secret, with almost no resources or friends. The good news is Adam solved the travel problem a thousand years earlier. The bad news is one of his oldest assumptions will turn out to be untrue.

Immortal from Hell is the darkest entry in the Immortal series.

Five Stars

Each book in the entire Immortal Series of audiobooks has been spectacular so far. This book continues the excellent story, and ups the ante for how much trouble Adam can get himself in...

Strong continuation of this series

I liked this better than book 4 of the series. More streamlined plot equaled to 10 hours of fun listening on long car rides. Steve Carlson is just the perfect narrator for this series, with his deadpan delivery of Adam's sarcastic outlook on (eternal) life. Couple of criticisms: This is clearly a transition book, ending with a totally unresolved story line (and the introduction of a third immortal). And there were moments when it all started to sound too much like a Dresden Files book. Hey, I actually like the Dresden Files but there's so much potential in the basic idea of an immortal (with a penchant for alcohol and a world-weary outlook) that Doucette shouldn't have to resort to goblins, demons, vampires, and other preternatural beings as much as he did in the last few books to create exciting stories.

Excellent as Always

I was waiting for this book to be released on Audible, and though it wasn't a long wait, it was worth it. Steve Carlson does a super job as always. This book is darker than the others, and you will need to have read them to really understand it. Mirella is, I think, my favorite character - maybe even more compelling than Adam. Great series!

This book was absolutely worth the wait

As with all the books in this series I loved it. It was as I said in the banner , absolutely worth the wait. I would recommend this book to anyone. This is the type of story that is just like the main character never gets old. It also has something for everyone, action, suspense, complex and interesting characters, a little romance and best of all a very interesting look at history and fairytale creatures. I look forward to the next book in the series. I sincerely hope that this is not the last we heard from Adam. Thank you

Each book better than the last!

I do NOT want this imaginative, clever, unlike-any-other series to end! I *think* I’m about to begin the last, and will be disconsolate if genes fertile imagination hasn’t invented the Book 7!

As Immortal books go, this one was disappointing.

I've listened to ALL of the Immortal Series now and really enjoyed them for drive time. Gene Doucette really takes you into Adam's world and a very long world it is. I've learned some interesting perspectives on history along the way.

This one not so much. Steve Carlson as a reader is very good except he can't do female voices convincingly and there is always at least one female in the books. If you can get past that and like the concept of a 60,000 old man who survives by his wits and considerable life experience, you'll enjoy the series.

But skip this one unless you are obsessed with listening to all of them. Gene Doucette himself must have been burned out when he wrote this one... just one more begged his publisher. Oh well.
