Claire O’Toole’s mother, Alana, went missing 15 years ago. That was big news in Pineview, Montana, the kind of town where nothing much ever happens. Then, last year, Claire’s husband, David, died in a freak accident - after launching his own investigation into Alana’s disappearance.
Is Alana dead? Or did she simply abandon her husband and daughters? Claire is determined to find out - and her former boyfriend, Isaac Morgan, wants to help. Although their relationship didn’t end well, he still has feelings for her. And yet it isn’t until he starts to suspect David’s death wasn’t an accident that he’s drawn back into her life.
Together, Claire and Isaac search for answers to the questions that have haunted Pineview all this time. But as they soon discover, someone’s prepared to kill so those answers won’t be found....

Where does In Close rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Note: try new 1.25x speed to make the story match the pace author intended. Its right up there, as the story quickly introduces many characters in this mystery.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
It sure did. This author showed "Isaac un-leashed", LeAnn "life just gets me down and I make it worst". Our heroine weak but determined, got on my nerves as times, but that's how the author chose to portray her. This was well done and well edited. What about Angela Dawe’s performance did you like?
I love Ms Dawe's performances, and have over 100 of her reads. I have new authors due to her reading an author's story. I found all 3 of this series Ms Dawe read. NOT to be missed.Ms Dawe made your heart go out to "Jeremy" in every scene. It will break your heart.
Any additional comments?
Book 1 & 2 are related. This book picks up the Miles/character from #2, but it is a stand alone book. If you want to try this author and Ms Dawe, start with this book."Of Mice and Men"

The first 2 books in this trilogy (Inside and In Seconds) were what I'd expect in a trilogy. The secondary characters from 'Inside' had their story told in the book 'In Seconds' and the main characters from 'Inside' were secondary characters in the second book.
But, while the story line for 'In Close' takes place in the same town as 'In Seconds' there's no relationship at all in the story line. The first 2 books were about prison gangs and the third book was about a small town cover up and I don't think Peyton or Virgil (main characters from Inside) were even mentioned in this book.
Furthermore, I really liked the charactor Rex a.k.a.Pretty Boy in the first 2 books. He was the type of charactor that you just can't help but root for...he saved the lives of 2 children along with both of the main charactors in each of the other 2 books. In the second book he was in love with the main character (Laurel) but she left him (for Miles - who's also a charactor in the third book). and he was also working to overcome a bad childhood and drug addiction. His story was completely dropped and he's never even mentioned in the thrid book! Hopefully he'll reappear in one of the authors other books so we're not left hanging!
As a stand alone book 'In Close' is enjoyable and worth your time but if you're looking for a follow-up from the first 2 books in the trilogy you'll be very disappointed!
This is a stand alone story...
