About this listen

Before Angalia Bianca became one of Chicago's foremost authorities on violence interruption and prevention, receiving international recognition and a Resolution for Bravery from the City of Chicago, she was a criminal, a master manipulator, and a brilliant con artist. Bianca spent 12 years in prison for forgery, embezzlement, drug dealing, and theft. But now she has gone far beyond the expectations for recovery to a life of service fueled by an unrelenting determination to make a difference.

Bianca was once a gang member; now she puts her life on the line to interrupt gang violence. For 36 years she was a heroin addict; now she mentors people in recovery. She was homeless; now she appears as an invited guest to speak at events across the country and around the world. Bianca crawled out of the deepest hole imaginable; now through her work with the renowned violence prevention group Cure Violence, she climbs back down to change lives.

In Deep is a blunt, honest look at Bianca's life. Her mind-blowing stories take listeners deep into a world of grit and gang violence that seems inescapable. Her story is at once fascinating, terrifying, and ultimately full of hope.

This is an important book. Civic leaders, city officials and social workers must read this book. Although very personal and severely honest, this story and the writer’s path are so important from a socio-political bent. The idea of never give up on the worst of the worst in our prison system because someday their ultimate work can change and save lives.

Awesome Biography and amazing story

I’ve listened to many addiction memoirs & this is the best I’ve ever heard bar none. It’s an incredible story of a life ravaged by addiction & the ultimate tale of hope & redemption.

Loved it!! Great story and I'm happy the writer gained back her life. I lost my truest love to heroin, I give her alot of credit for beating her demons.

I wanted information and I was Stunned by both both the information and the tenacity of Bianca’s will to survive through what I see as one nightmare after another. It is amazing how God delivered her from and delivered her to a destination and purpose so carefully shaped so that she could be the violence interrupter and healing balm for others. This is encouragement hard won. Thank you for sharing your stories and for taking your place on the front lines.

A Different shade of Miracle

As a recovering alcoholic, or any addict- it is a straight up honest look into the eyes of the devil. But also proves, when you ask God for help, He will help you!❤️

Brutally honest without the fluffy BS!
