About this listen

When the treasured 15th century Cherringham Chalice is stolen from St. James, it looks at first like the work of a professional gang, robbing local churches. But Jack and Sarah realise that there must have been someone on the inside, helping the thieves - and they start to investigate. Can it really be possible that a member of the church council is guilty? Soon Jack and Sarah discover that even in this world of trust and faith there can be secrets, lies ... and real danger.

Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby.

Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid-90s, creating innovative content and working on major projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and the best-selling mystery series Cherringham. Their latest series project is called Mydworth Mysteries.

The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of 'DCI John Barnaby' in 'Midsomer Murders' and 'Jim Riley' in 'The Life of Riley'. He is also known for his film roles in 'The Nativity', 'Sorted' and 'Son of Rambow'. In 2012 Dudgeon starred as 'Norman Birkett' on BBC Radio 4's Afternoon Play series written by Caroline and David Stafford.

You outdid yourselves, guys! Usual fast pace and interesting plot. But the ending was awesome. I was laughing and crying. A most appropriate book to listen to 3 days before Christmas. Thanks!

Best. Ending. Ever.

This series is wonderful. This is the 42nd short story so the regular characters are pretty well created. The bad guys were not very full but this is only a 3 hour story. Good mystery, no blood, no guns. Just good sleuthing.

Always love these stories.

I especially like the narration by Neil Dudgeon. He is soooo good!! I’ve listened to every installment of this series and am working my way through them for a second listen. The writers consistently give us well-defined and likable characters who are not silly or unbelievable, and always an interesting mystery. Thank you, thank you ❤️

At last!! Another episode!

As always incredibly entertaining. Plowed through every Cherringham book. The narrator Neil Dudgeon is perfect for the part.
