About this listen

Karma. You reap what you sow, and KANE MARTIN isn't looking for forgiveness.

But the arrival of ABE TYLER in Painted Bay has Kane dreaming of the impossible. The sexy, silver fox choreographer is determined to pull Kane out from the shadows, but Abe's career isn't about to shift to Painted Bay, and Kane's life is in neat little boxes for a reason.

A past he isn't proud of.

A family he's walked away from.

A job he doesn't deserve.

A secret he's ashamed of.

But life's dance can make for unexpected partners, and learning to trust and keep up with the footwork is the name of the game.

Two steps forward, one step back.

It takes two to tango.

I'm picky, but I can't be here

I'm a Jay Hogan fan, and I love this series, but this one was perfect. Kane is probably my favorite character of the whole series except maybe Leeroy, who was still stealing my heart and making me smile in this book also. This is redemption at its finest,..but it's not just that, it's all the other characters coming full circle as a chosen family. Doesn't get any better

My heart

This whole series has been absolutely amazing, and this 3rd book did not disappoint. Kane and Abe's story was truly touching. And Jay Hogan is quickly becoming a must read for me. Gary, as always, gave an amazing performance. He comes at each book with all the emotions, and really pulls you into the characters even deeper.
Love Painted Bay.

When the book is good as the cover

And to be clear, this book cover is in my opinion one of the most beautiful things in existence.

The story itself is really beautiful too. I have read it a number of times, because both the story and the narration is so so good. Gary Furlong is a brilliant narrator, his ability to portray emotion through his voice is just STUNNING. I do love a good redemption story too, I’m so happy that Kane and Abe found their home in each other. I will happily reread this book until the end of time.

Love love love

Jay Hogan is an insta author for me. I love all her books, but Kane and Abe’s story touches my heart in a special way. Their love story unfolds in such a sweet, sensitive, tender way that is so completely romantic with a good amount of heat. They are exactly the perfect match, and it was great catching up with beloved side characters. Gary Furlong is the perfect narrator for the Painted Bay stories.

Definitely a Fave

Kane has the best story arc of the Painted Bay series and I adore Abe, the actual silvering fox. Gary Furlong’s narration is fantastic, adding in an amazing depth of emotion. This might just be my favorite work by Hogan.

*potential spoilers*

We meet Kane briefly in Off Balance as Judah’s teenage nemesis, albeit a possibly complicated (broken?) nemesis. We get to know him more in On Board when he starts working for Judah’s brother, Leroy, including some big hints about his life away from Painted Bay (definitely broken). However, In Step finally gives us Kane himself from his own perspective as well as from an outsider’s, one who is not biased by Judah’s trauma. We get to see the explanations (never excuses), the whys and hows that made Kane who he is.
