Publisher's summary

Navy SEAL Chuck Suzuki has been living a lie for years. The time has finally come to redeem himself. But, choosing team and country over ties of loyalty that go back decades puts Chuck in greater peril than his work as a SEAL ever has. Of all the times for Chuck to meet the woman of his dreams, this has got to be the worst.

Katy Tang isn't who she seems. She's really FBI Special Agent Kelly Yang, on her first undercover assignment to befriend a suspected traitor. Stunned by her attraction to the Navy SEAL spy, it's all Kelly can do to keep their relationship platonic. Yet, the more she uncovers about Chuck's complicated past, the more she yearns to prevent his imminent downfall.

Okay for a rainy day

Predictable plot with strange sentimentality mixed in. The ending felt unlikely and cooked up

Tightly woven & well-written romantic suspense

Insider Threat (Deep Cover Book 1), my eighth read from author Marliss Melton and my first in the Deep Cover series, hey it's what I own. I was reading/listening to Marliss Melton pretty consistently for the first seven reads until I ran out of audiobooks and drifted away to other authors/genres. Enjoyable, tightly woven & well-written romantic suspense, focusing as much or more on the female leads as the SEALS. One of my favorite things about her writing is how she foreshadows future books in her current book. I'll be reading more from this author and in this series as well as her other series. Giancarlo Herrera's narration makes an enjoyable book even more enjoyable, in fact, I read/listened to this in one sitting. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Espionage Thriller

This was my first experience with Marliss Melton's work, and it was entertaining. I enjoyed the story about Kelly Yang, a FBI special agent, on her first undercover mission, who had to befriend Chuck Suzuki, a Navy Seal, who just might be a spy. The story was convoluted and interesting. Giancarlo Herrera's narration was great, and her voice was expressive. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.
