About this listen

War...like none that has come before.

The Hegemony has launched the invasion Tyler Barron and his Confederation comrades have feared, and all the Rim is ablaze with the fires of war and destruction.

The Hegemony has brought its vast fleets, its advanced technology, and its endless legions of grim cyborg warriors to impose its system of rigid genetic hierarchy over all humanity on the Rim.

The Confederation fleet is outnumbered and outmatched, but they will fight nevertheless, struggling and dying to hold back the onslaught any way they can, even as the Marines they leave behind dig in and prepare to defend worlds swallowed up by the advancing battle lines.

Barron and his people will fight, they will fight like demons unleashed, and Jake ‘Raptor’ Stockton will lead his wings of strikefighters in one desperate attack after another into the teeth of the enemy armada, but time is running out…even as the enemy pushes relentlessly toward the Confederation’s Core and final victory.

Comrades

As I’ve been listening to this series while I drive, there’s certain buzz words that the author loves to use that are becoming... grating. Comrades. Everyone is everyone’s comrade. I’ve considered developing a drinking game for that particular word. But I’m driving so probably not a good idea.

As others have reviewed, this book as well as most of the series thus far could be significantly shortened if the constant rehashing of main character’s doubts and recriminations was cut out. I would assume that if someone is reading or listening this far into the series, they know what happened. They were there. Maybe just a passing acknowledgment that the character is still beating his or her self up over some past action. Then move on.

I do very much enjoy the premise of this series. I have come to like many of the characters. And Mr Allen does a fantastic job with the action of the battle sequences, once he gets to it and stops pandering about to pad the word count.

I will continue to listen and read the series. It has been an excellent way to pass the 8 hours a day driving. I would greatly enjoy a revision at some point in the future as well though. One that trims out the fat and overuse of certain words and phrases.

Better one of the series.

Good pacing. Good resolution. Still repeats several lines over and over, about 7 catch phrases in the series that are often repeated.

Aggressors vs Tyler Baron and the Confederation

Space opera at its finest. Many space stories share the struggles Of civilizations Inevitable growth into space. As they explore gaining resources, expanding knowledge, a common issue occurs; what happens when we Inevitably meet a different civilization? what happens when the two entities with different values, agendas, desires, and intentions collide.

I am enjoying this book series as it's just not 2 or 3 books But a series of 18. Yes I'm invested, yes it's repetitive at times, yes I'm Continuing to read and listen to the exploits of the confederation and Tyler Barron. It's a good series I hope you enjoy it as I am.

A good story with a strong narative.

Very enjoyable. The multiple view points are quite welcome. Additional viewpoints from the Hegemony are interesting.
