About this listen

Australia has always had a problem with feral animals, especially those creatures introduced to the ecosystem by humans from other nations. They wreak havoc on the native fauna, on the agricultural industries, on people’s homes, and at times, they can be deadly.

On the Yorke Peninsula of South Australia, a rural community, some distance from the state’s capital city, a local snake catcher and school teacher find a reptile they assume is just another feral species. However, this one is different.

Its bite causes flesh to rot off the bones of their victim.

Second, it grows fast. Way too fast.

Third, there’s more than one.

Lastly, it is not a mere snake. It is the immature form of something much larger, much more dangerous, and mythical, and it falls on this duo to try to stop these creatures before they reach maturity and nothing can stop this…Invasive Species.

Great story, well worth the read. Nicely developed and good narration. Kissed on the nose.

While this book didn't keep me up at night because I was so terrified (which, honestly, I'm glad for), I definitely wouldn't have wanted to take the garbage out in the dark with the woods next to me. lol It was an interesting book that creeped me out some, while also entertaining me and giving me some insight into rural Australia. I recommend it for those not looking for hard-core terror. I definitely enjoyed the book.

This has the potential to be a good book - decent plot idea - but it just doesn’t make it. I’m wondering if this author is a very young man, as the conversations and interactions between the main characters seem immature in their description and very male centric with idealized female characterizations. The story frankly drags through hours of uninteresting descriptions, conversations, and immaterial and unrelated situations. A good editor could cut this book in half.
The narrator has a very soothing, monotone delivery…he put me to sleep several times. Unfortunately he is not able to do effective female characters…they end up sounding immature and vapid.
I returned it.

Has potential but doesn’t deliver….
