A bizarre series of incidents take place on a usually tranquil lake. Boats are found ravaged, a body torn in two, other people are missing and an injured victim cries of a monster. Chief of Police Morgan Sydney must face the reality that a huge monster is lurking in the lake. With bulletproof scales, territorial aggression, and an insatiable appetite, the beast causes mayhem in the peaceful town. To destroy the creature, Sydney must form an alliance with the sheriff, a local lodge employee, his ex-wife, and an eccentric biologist who has a theory on what the creature is and its origins.

the narrator was below average, though. you could tell he was in his house bc he whispered all the yelling like he was afraid to disturb anyone with loud noises xD. overall he didna good job, especially the female characters, surprisingly. biggest pet peeve is the fact that he literally mispronounces the title of the story. Instead of "crevasse" he says "crevice" which I guess are more or less synonyms but it hits the ear wrong.
Pretty standard B-Movie plot

Sidney Morgan, the main character, was surprisingly relatable. He’s not your typical over-the-top action hero, and that made following his journey a lot more engaging. You actually care what happens to him, which isn’t always the case in books like this.
The pacing was solid - quick without feeling rushed. The story just keeps ticking along, and I never found myself wanting to skip ahead or zone out. It hits that sweet spot between fast-moving plot and enough detail to stay grounded.
Now, is it the next great literary classic? No. But that’s not the point. It’s here to entertain, and it absolutely delivers. In fact, it felt like something a bit different - like Michael Cole tried something different, and it worked. I really enjoyed it for what it was: a fun, fast-paced creature feature that knows exactly what kind of story it wants to tell.
Excellent narration too!
