About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Dale Brown goes beyond the headlines in this high-tech, high-tension military thriller in which a resurgent Russia enflames sectarian unrest and violence in Ukraine and Poland, setting off a stealth robotic war and escalating an international crisis.

In the spring of 2017, the US economy is rebounding under President Stacy Anne Barbeau, the country's first female president. But her leadership is about to be severely tested: Russian president Gennadiy Gryzlov has sent special troops, disguised as pro-Russian activists, into Ukraine and Moldova. Though NATO is outraged, its response is tepid. Refusing to let Russian aggression go unpunished, former US president Kevin Martindale approaches Polish president Peter Wilk with a radical solution: a counterattack using a covert force of Cybernetic Infantry Device (CID): manned robots.

Underwritten by the wealthy Wilk, Operation Iron Wolf is launched - without the knowledge of the Americans or its NATO partners. The CID's initial strikes are successful, infuriating Gryzlov and propelling President Barbeau to pledge Western help to investigate the attack. With international tensions at the boiling point, Martindale's secret alliance, supported by the best military technology, is determined to outmaneuver the Russians.

In this battle that will determine the fate of Eastern Europe, just which side will win?

Really enjoyed it. I felt I was part of the action and couldn't believe how Barbo reacted. I want to follow up on what happens next.

A high-tech, high-tension military thriller in which a resurgent Russia inflames unrest and violence in Ukraine and Poland, Russian leader is an aggressive dufus and the POTUS needs to put on some iron panties.Brad, the younger McLanahan is the main character. The story revolves between high levels and the tactical level. Interesting thesis--US defense firm goes to work for the country of Poland and resists Russian aggression. Of course, the good guys win. Brown's research is extensive--I marvel at it, but I don't want to read it. There are many furballs-the story ends with a changed world.

Great story pertinent to events today in Ukraine. Good mix of existing weaponry and futuristic electronic and robotic weapons.

Loved chapter quotes. Very contemporary and relevant tale about current events and world tension, and global politics. Great focus on possible impact of a disengaged USA. Although a very minor part of the book, the hint of a union of free states tied in Europe is an interesting thought

One of his best

I enjoyed the story greatly. Mr Brown is a fantastic storyteller. I have read 6 books starting with flight of the old dog. I was happy to see you use F 111 as a subject as I was an aircrew life support tech at RAF Lakenheath 1977 to 79. Thanks
