About this listen
Read by the author.
Lee Strobel, former atheist and legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, weaves together the latest evidence from a range of brilliant scientific and philosophical minds to answer the most consequential question of all time.
"Is God real?"
More than two hundred times a second, around the world, questions about God's existence are being typed into search engines. Google alone provides nearly 4 million results to that single question.
The topic of the existence of a Creator has enormous implications on our lives, including whether or not we have free will, if there's any such thing as an afterlife, and whether or not there's any basis for human morality.
In Is God Real?, Lee Strobel—author of the New York Times bestselling book, The Case for Christ—pulls together material from his previous books to create this updated rational exploration of the proof of God's existence and the basis of our hope.
Writing to skeptics, believers, and anyone who's ever gone through (or is going through) periods of doubt and disillusionment, Lee turns his critical mind and expert interview skills to perennial questions such as:
- If God is real, why is there so much suffering?
- How do we know which God is real?
- If God is real, why does he seem so hidden?
- How do recent scientific findings support the claim that God is real?
- If God is real, what difference does it make?
Is God Real? is a life-changing exploration of the inquiry at the center of our being.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

But then Strobel travels the country to quiz scholars to see whether they can offer solid answers to atheist objections. Along the way, he encounters astounding accounts of healings and other phenomena that simply cannot be explained away by naturalistic causes. The audiobook features the results of exclusive new scientific polling that shows miracle accounts are much more common than people think.

Proof for atheists!
I found Lee Strobel’s approach to interviewing scientists and unpacking what the scientific community believes as extremely helpful to refer this book to my atheist friends who are scientifically minded, and look for proof for their conclusions. I’m praying their minds are open to following the data wherever it leads. In this case, I believe it leads to the conclusion God is real! From there, Lee Strobel provides wonderful evidence of monotheism, and that Jesus is truly the one God who has created all things, proven by his resurrection. His grace and desire to know us personally is evidenced by the moral compass he’s given each of us to find Him when we seek Him when we search for Him with all our heart! Thank you Lee Strobel and the Zondervan team for answering the cry for the answer to this top search engine question!

Outstanding research and convincing evidence.
The depth of detail and extent of interviews with highly qualified & experienced professionals in their respective fields makes this a believable book and touches home to a skeptic like me. The narration by the author was superb!

Best Question of All Time!
Lee kept me riveted like most of his books have and like always he asks all the best questions and he relates the answers intelligently enough for my intellect to easily grasp without being over my simple understanding. I think that this is his best yet. And I’ve read and listened to them all.

This is a logical, thought provoking journey through science, evidence and testimonials of discovering if there is a God and what difference does it make. I loved it!

He points out the inescapable truth of the existence of God
I found the beginning a little hard to follow since I am not a scientist but the message was never lost on me. I found the historical facts so amazingly compelling and the philosophical debate cement my faith in God almighty. My prayer is that this book finds its way into the hands and hearts of so many more people who can come to know God is real and he loves you.

Best apologetics book!
Well-researched., thought-provoking and fun, Lee Strobel‘s voice, exudes joy, and excitement in detailing why God is real. This is a book for every person, no matter what point they are at in their journey with God. It may help those at the beginning, move forward more easily, and those more convicted, be able to put words what is already felt.

Very interesting
This book took and explains God’s existence in many different ways. This book helped me to understand how to explain God’s existence to my friends.

"I believe; help my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24)
“Is God real?” is one of the most commonly asked questions on Google, and one of the first questions curious users asked ChatGPT when it rolled out to the public last year.
Prior to the enlightenment and rise in materialistic atheism, virtually everyone in the world subscribed to religion. Even today, more than half of the world’s population believes in the God of the Old Testament; and more than 80% identify with a religion.
Still, though, scientific materialistic atheism has brought forth a lot of skepticism around the existence of God, even among believers. Many of us have wrestled with doubts. These doubts are normal natural and healthy, and earnestly exploring them can bolster our faith.
In plain, clear language, Lee Strobel walks us through some of the most powerful arguments in favor of the existence of a divine creator, some of the most compelling being the following:
1. The Cosmos requires a creator. Everything that begins to exist has a cause; the universe began to exist; and therefore, the universe has a cause.
2. The physical laws of the universe are “finely tuned” to enable life. As such, it is impossible to have emerged by random chance. Our universe having emerged by random chance from the Big Bang would be less likely than a tornado in a junk heap assembling a Lamborghini.
3. Our DNA is a complex code. While it has increased in complexity over time, biologists agree its ancient predecessor had a “minimal” level of complexity far beyond what could plausibly have emerged through a purely random process.
4. There is ample and compelling historical evidence that Jesus rose from the dead. Mr. Strobel is well-versed in the evidence and arguments, which he delivers convincingly.
Mr. Strobel also walks us through two of the most common questions and counterarguments to God’s existence: (1) the existence of suffering, and (2) God’s hiddenness.
The book is a concise and easy read, and is packed with solid information. For me, I felt reassured in my personal faith, and also well-armed to handle questions from curious atheist friends.
For audio listeners, Mr. Strobel has spent the time and effort to read the book himself, which is a treat. His clarity, confidence, familiarity with the material, and sense of humor make it a very enjoyable listening experience.
