About this listen

For listeners who can't get enough of thrillers and suspense, with a Christian twist, Sea of Darkness will have you hooked from the beginning.

It's 1962, and Isaiah and Rebecca Light have built a small, yet steadily growing church in the North Florida area, living a quiet life devoted to worshiping God. But their lives are changed forever when Isaiah's father, Michael, passes down the family Bible that holds an ancient secret.

When a mysterious young leader shows up to Isaiah's youth group drunk, searching for a girl who never showed up, Isaiah begins to untangle a web of lies that lead to car crashes, arrests, and a body count of innocent young women. Will Isaiah be able to save the girl and protect his church from the evil in the world that threatens to consume them?

If you enjoyed Ted Dekker's Circle Trilogy, you won't want to miss Sea of Darkness.

I was engaged from start to finish. Very practical… inspiring character development and a realistic story and plot. Can’t wait to start the next installment

Great story telling!

I listened to the first 3 books in the series before finishing with this one. I’m glad I did because I had different expectations for this book after the others. Without any spoilers hopefully, I can explain. I was somewhat worried that I wouldn’t like this book as much as the trilogy. I was pleasantly surprised. Let’s just say that my expectations were that it’d be a similar plot line to the others only from the perspective of the Light family’s patriarch. Same story just decades earlier. I was pleasantly surprised by the story. It was a quick listen and while the subject matter was overall the same, Good vs Evil, it had a different but appealing plot or rather sub-plot. It was engaging and I listened to it every chance I had. It is an origin story but there are still many things unrevealed about the Ark and how/what God has called the Light family to do with it. I’m REALLY hoping there are new books on the way. There are certainly many options left in possible plots and story lines to be discovered between Isaiah and the start of the trilogy. As we know, the protector or keeper of the ark will always be a target for evil. As there is nothing more important for evil than to “bring a christian down.” After all there’s nothing to be gained from someone who isn’t even seeking God and a relationship with Him. I’m no expert but it seemed like the author left some things out and then inserted some things that could all be explored in future books. I’ve no idea if the author has spoken on the subject, so I could be completely wrong. It was a great book. Just as compelling as the trilogy though a perspective fitting a prequel or origin story. I’d absolutely buy more if it was to have more books added. Though all that being said, this book is not left on a cliffhanger. You can most certainly read it as a stand alone book. I highly recommend that you read it in order of release rather than in chronological order. The trilogy gives you a greater connection to Isaiah Light and it doesn’t disappoint. I personally think if read in chronological order, you might find yourself thinking “wait! what about the last 5-6 decades?!”
