About this listen

He'd never guess that his very courage to commit could be the cause of his own downfall.

Jake's loved and lost, suffered failed relationships and felt real sorrow, but the new girl in his life may be just the one to finally put an end to that life.

His girlfriend, Samantha, is sweet and kind, full of joy, and the kind of girl Jake can be perfectly content sitting in complete silence with. It's so comfortable and easy to fall completely for her. In fact, Jake would do anything for Samantha, anything at all.

Just having returned from attending Samantha's family reunion, he's high as a kite, basking in the realization that he's been officially accepted as one of the family. He can't believe his luck, especially as he's driving off into the sunset with Samantha herself and so looking forward to those precious, anticipated moments alone with her. What could possibly go wrong?

A thumping noise resonates from the trunk of the car as they speed along the highway together.

Thump, thump.

He falls head over heels for her but not exactly in the way he intended.

Short but entertaining

This short story kept me on my toes. I like the mystery element of how the protagonist will end up while being hopelessly blinded by love.

Not everything is as it appears

Not everything is as it appears in this short story. There were a few things about the story that didn’t make sense (like why did she wear a white dress? why’d she leave her sweater in the trunk?) but it kept my attention from start to finish, with plenty of unexpected surprises. Once again, Justine Avery doesn’t disappoint!

Kind of disappointing

Although it was a good short story, (20 mins max) I’m a little upset that I bought the audio book thinking it was a full size book. The sypnosis sounded great. It really had no point to it though. Disappointed

This surprised me

I listened to this while doing some work and was actually genuinely surprised by how this one turned out. It starts off as a typical romantic comedy that has two partners getting to know each other and feeling things out. It takes a sudden left turn when we find out a secret about one of the partners in the relationship and a tragic mistake they've made. Definitely a fun "Read"

Quirky Short Story

I had no idea what to expect before listening to this short story, but it definitely surprised me. I enjoyed the narrator, he had a pleasing voice. And the story was interesting. A great little diversion.
