About this listen

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A progressive takedown of the uber-capitalist status quo that has enriched millionaires and billionaires at the expense of the working class, and a blueprint for what transformational change would actually look like

“A clarion call against the American oligarchs . . . powerful.”—The Guardian

It’s OK to be angry about capitalism. Reflecting on our turbulent times, Senator Bernie Sanders takes on the billionaire class and speaks blunt truths about our country’s failure to address the destructive nature of a system that is fueled by uncontrolled greed and rigidly committed to prioritizing corporate profits over the needs of ordinary Americans.

Sanders argues that unfettered capitalism is to blame for an unprecedented level of income and wealth inequality, is undermining our democracy, and is destroying our planet. How can we accept an economic order that allows three billionaires to control more wealth than the bottom half of our society? How can we accept a political system that allows the super rich to buy politicians and swing elections? How can we accept an energy system that rewards the fossil fuel corporations causing the climate crisis? Sanders believes that, in the face of these overwhelming challenges, the American people must ask tough questions about the systems that have failed us and demand fundamental economic and political change. This is where the path forward begins.

It’s OK to Be Angry About Capitalism presents a vision that extends beyond the promises of past campaigns to reveal what would be possible if the political revolution took place, if we would finally recognize that economic rights are human rights, and if we would work to create a society that provides a decent standard of living for all. This isn’t some utopian fantasy; this is democracy as we should know it.

Bernie is just plain right!

I love Bernie's platform and stand against Uber capitalism. His takedown of the status quo in this book is right on the money. If hlaf the people who claim to care about the state of the economy, the country, and the world listened to and understood this book, we could actually make progressive change that is desperately needed.

Bernie’s book is a must read

The reason that everyone should read this book is because Bernie makes so much sense. He has all the statistics and facts comparing the US and many other developed countries with longevity, health care system and shows we are on the bottom of the heap. What was enlightening for me is that the Democratic Party is not listening to what people want. The Party needs the grass roots to educate in all areas, the rural population to see that Democrats will vote for them with progressive ideas that will make their lives better. A few of the Democrats are also beholden to Big Money. We must get Big Money out of politics.

I very much enjoyed listening to this book, Bernie Sanders has always been one of my political favorites, and he continues not to disappoint with this very detailed and informative book. I come away from this book with a better understanding of progressive politics and new ideas on how to fix the problems and inequalities that are present in our government. 10/10 would recommend!

A Must Read

Thought provoking, factual (I checked), and a must read for people of any political party. Great for all ages to discuss critical national and world topics regardless of how ingrained they are to their party.

Sanders is eminently reasonable when you just let him talk

The media and pop culture tend to display Sanders as a radical dreamer, but I don’t think many people could object to the common sense behind the arguments he makes in this book. What’s more, I can tell that he sincerely cares about working people and our democracy—it’s not just posturing.

Great insight!

This book gives great insight on how Sen. Sanders found success during th campaign trail during his presidential run in 2016 and 2020. It's also worth highlighting Sen. Sanders name dropping and being up front on informing readings the political and corporate corruption within government and how big money influences members of congress to vote against the interest of working class Americans to further enrich themselves and their donors. He is very concise and straight forward of his policy descriptions and what he envisions for this country that seems utopian by American standards yet a reality in every other industrialized nation in the modern world. I would highly recommend reading 10/10
