Publisher's summary

Once a protector, he has now become the hunter.

Jack Granger has done the right thing all his life, but when his life was turned upside down, forming Eidolon became his salvation. He built a team who are ready to fight beside him and die for the vow they all made—to protect the Queen. Once more his world is shattered by betrayal, his very essence is rocked as long-hidden secrets emerge, and the truth he’s always believed about himself is shaken to its foundation.

She was tortured, betrayed, and abandoned.

Astrid Lasson was left for dead by the CIA. Rescued by a group of women who put her back together piece by piece, she became a member of the elite assassin group known as Zenobi. Just as she’s found peace, a former foe finds her. Fighting to find the person who holds the answers to her past, Astrid finds her heart on a collision course with Jack Granger, the brooding, alpha, leader of Eidolon.

They will fight together to save Queen and Country

Thrown together to keep the Queen and the monarchy from falling, Jack must trust Astrid and open his heart to the sexy assassin with the past that’s coming for them both. It takes all Jack’s skills to keep everyone he cares about safe from a man who knows him better than he knows himself, and his focus away from the beautiful, but deadly woman who holds his heart in her hands.

Jack finds Love!

Jack and Astrid are such a strong warrior couple and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more. I started with a different series and Jack has always been a bit of a mystery that I wanted to unravel. This is an action-packed romance had me waiting to see what happened next. Jack and Astrid both have complex past of their own but they are stronger together and are willing to work through their own issues to get to the HEA we all dream of!

Lack and Astrid

Just coming from the Queen passing away, I felt this story was a little bittersweet. Overall I was happy with the story. Interconnected story, but it’s easy to listen to as a standalone. I wish Astrid would’ve been portrayed as more of the badass she truly is. Hearing the male narrator do a woman’s voice wasn’t my favorite. The time seemed a bit off for me but it didn’t take away from the story. Would happily listen to more in this series.

Jack & Astrid!

This is another fantastic installment to the Eidolon Black Ops series! Jack is requested by the Queen to be head of her security. Astrid is there as well, and now the two not only have a mission to keep the Queen safe, but an attraction that they cannot deny. When the truth comes out as to why Jack is chosen, not only is the Queen in danger, but Jack's family and Astrid may just become a casualty! This book has everything! The history of Eidolon, Jack's intriguing past and a love that is nothing short of perfect. Jack is a complex, orderly man, and his strength and devotion to his job and his woman is steadfast. Astrid is all over the place. Messy, unorganized, the complete opposite of Jack, yet his perfect match. Maddie Wade has another winner on her hands and a great addition to the series.

Paul McLaughlin is new to me and a great pick to narrate Jack. As the creator of he Eidolon, he gives Jack a commanding presence, yet he gives him emotions that make him real. He easily transitions to Astrid, determined and spunky. And his queen is the best! I had fun listening to him.

Action, drama,love

Intrigue, deep secrets , betrayals, greed, power at any cost. This was filled with non stop action, but the two main characters found time to get past their differences to the layers beneath and find love. Some really shocking reveals!!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did an good job.

Female Character Narration Was Questionable

I bought and listened to the audiobook. The narrator did a great job for the male characters. The female character narration was cringe worthy, but only for some of the female characters. Listening to Astrid was really off putting.

As far as the actual story was concerned, I thought Jack and Astrid made a good couple. I also was able to pick up the ebook. That helped to put a different twist on things.

I liked that Astrid was skilled, able to take care of herself, and so willing to support Jack. I thought it was nice Jack found someone to love and support, but to also be able to lean on.

Fred was even more despicable that he was in the previous books. I thought the secret that was revealed was a nice twist to the story.

I would definitely recommend the ebook or paperback. As far as the audiobook, listen to the sample before you purchase it. I didn't. You get a small sample of Astrid's narration. It may not bother you.

Action-packed story!

I've listened to and enjoyed other books in this series so was excited to read Jack. The storyline was exactly what I expected with this series. I liked the narration for the male voices but truly struggled with the female voices. I completely understand that narrators have a range and it's unreasonable to ask them to perform out of that range. This is definitely a book that would have benefited from having an additional (female) narrator. I did finish the book despite not liking the female voices because I neeeeeeded to know how it ended.

It’s about time for Jack

Jack and Astrid have been playing around the bush for a bit now and it’s about time Jack got his head of his ***. Maddie Wade wrote them an awesome story that shows you will stop at nothing for love. Jacks father has been a thorn in his side for years and this book shows the trauma he has put Jack through. Astrid stays so strong around Jacks father to fight and survive for the man she has fallen in love with. This book also shows that great teammates who have become family will also stop at nothing to rescue loved ones. This whole series has been amazing and I’m sadden to see it end but I bet Maddie will have more awesome stories for us in a diff series <3. I think Paul is great at narrating make parts of the book but the female parts weren’t my favorite. This will not stop me from checking out more of his work. A female voice isn’t for all males just as a male voice isn’t for all females. Great job overall!!!

Jack

Another great installment in this series.

I love the narrator’s male British accent. His female character’s American accent was too southern to me. Narration was good overall and made the story enjoyable.

I Enjoyed It

Jack learned alot about his family history and why he was personally asked to protect the queen of England. He had to fight against his own father's troubled plans. Astrid took on a new mission which showed her the surprise of her life. Jack and Astrid explored their relationship.
Narrator Paul McLaughlin provided the voices for this book.
