About this listen

A Cotton Creek SEAL hero story.+

Jasper figured that being captured and tortured for weeks before managing to escape was going to be what ended him. He was trying to deal with it, but the damn panic attacks were crippling him. When he was ordered into rehab, he had no choice but to obey. Being a SEAL was his life. He had to get whole again and get back to his unit.

As luck would have it, one of the Commanders of a SEAL Team, Grady Judd, who was now off the active duty roster, had partnered up with an ex-CIA spy and opened a rehab center in Texas. When Grady called and asked Jasper to do his rehab there, Jasper said yes. With Grady as the boss, maybe the place, Sanctuary, wouldn't be like the VA hospital, all talk and no action.

What he finds when he gets there is a therapist who is anything but conventional. That might have been okay except for one small glitch. Dr. Whitestone's a woman. And she's hot.

Now JJ has more than PTSD to worry about. He also has to keep his desires in check and his hands off the doctor.

Moving Romance!

Jasper Jacks was ordered to go into rehab at Sanctuary where Dr. Etta Whitestone is the therapist. Both J.J. and Etta have traumatic pasts and both are attracted to the other. My heart went out to both J.J. and Etta. This was such a moving story with plenty of drama, action and romance to keep my interest from start to finish. I really liked Deacon as well and was happy that the story included characters from the previous books in the series. Rhett Samuel Price does an amazing job with the narration and puts just the right amount of inflection in his voice when necessary to make the story enjoyable. I could always tell which character was speaking and the story always flowed smoothly. It is definitely one I will listen to again. I received a free copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily provided an unbiased review.

The series continues to get better.....and better.....and better. I can't get enough of these books, the characters, Ciana, Rhett, and Cotton Creek! Ciana's does a wonderful job writing about Cotton Creek, while Rhett does a fantastic job bringing the story to life! Can't stop listening!

Amazing Suspense and Healing

All JJ wants is to get back to his unit, he isn't whole unless he is fighting along side his brothers, but one woman stands in his way, the Dr. that has to sign off saying he is fit for duty, but all she has him doing is working a ranch and asking him the same question over and over. He doesn't see how that is helping him, when in fact everything he is doing is making life better, making him whole. Etta has her own demons and she has been running from those demons for years, she heals others in hopes that one day she will find a measure of relief for herself, until those demons come looking for her again. I loved this book for more than just the fact that Ciana is an awesome writer. The story itself pulls you in almost as if you were in Texas, feeling the heat of sun on your face or the cool lap of water from the lake. The suspense or mystery keeps your mind sharp waiting for that climatic part where the story evolves. The ending of this book isn't really an ending but a prelude of what more May come as the series plays off of characters from previous books, but stands alone in its own right. Not only does JJ heal in this story but so does Etta.

A great book and narrator

The story is wonderful and even though J.J. is broken, he is stronger than he thinks. Etta is a therapist whose job it is to get J.J. healed from a pretty horific experience overseas. She never expects to be attracted to, or fall for, J.J. J.J. is counting down the days until he can go back and be with his team. He never expects to find Etta.
There is a lot of excitement and heartbreak (past and present) that occur in this book. She has gone through a lot, she isn't only a therapist, she is also a former active operative. She experienced heartbreak in probably the worst way possible. While helping J.J. get back on his feet, she confesses what happened in her past and they grow closer. When the threat froms her past comes back, it is J.J. and the rest of the SEAL's at Sanctuary that need to help Etta, but will they succeed.
When it is finally time for J.J. to go back with his men, is there any way J.J and Etta can make a relationship work? Will he give up or will she?
The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life. He used great inflection and different tones in order to differentiate between characters. While I may have enjoyed it more if there was a female narrator, as well as, the male narrator, I did enjoy the book as it was presented.

Great book

This is the story of a navy seal that was taken hostage and tortured and the doctor who was helping him. This is the first book I’ve read from the series and will be going back to read the first two books. It is well written with both romance and action.

An Edge of the Seat Roller Coaster

I have read or listened to several of the Cotton Creek books, so some of the characters in this story are like old friends. Whilst I have enjoyed all the books, this one I think is the best! The story is action-packed, fast-flowing and so very moving. My heart broke not only for Jasper (JJ) but for Dr. Etta Whitestone the woman charged with giving JJ back his life after he was captured and tortured for weeks by terrorists before he managed to escape with vital information.

After his body had healed he still had to deal with panic attacks and PTSD to be able to return to his seal team so he goes to Sanctuary a facility run especially to help people just like him.

Grady is a seal commander who is not on the active-duty roster at the moment as he together with Mason an ex-spy and Decon (an ex seal) have opened a facility called Sanctuary. When Grady Judd called and asked Jasper to do his rehab there, Jasper said yes he thought that with Grady in charge, maybe the place, Sanctuary, wouldn't be like the VA hospital, all talk, and no action.

But on his arrival, he learns that his care is to be in the hands of Etta Whitestone, a therapist who is anything but conventional. That might have been okay except for one small glitch. Dr. Whitestone's a woman. And she's hot and although they both try to keep their distance this proves to be impossible.

Now JJ has more than PTSD to worry about. He also has to keep his desires in check and his hands off the doctor. A doctor who herself has suffered far more than anyone person should.

I don't want to say more because of spoilers but please believe me when I say that this story has everything, drama, action, betrayal, loyalty, and love - It's a great listen.

The narration by Rhett Samuel Price is excellent, his performance is flawless and moving - bringing that little something extra to a wonderfully powerful story.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Jasper Jacks

PTSD is serious stuff to have to deal with and both of these characters do in their own way. I really love this group of people and how they all become so close as a family. This book had two extremely strong people who fight their way back to live peaceful lives. I love this series so far and can’t wait for more.

Jasper and Etta

I LOVE this third installment of the Heartbreakers and Heroes series. Etta is an extremely inter-esting character with so much backstory! And Jasper Jacks comes into her life at just the right time. Every book I read from Ciana makes me want to go back and read every previous book she has written! Her writing is interesting, her characters complex, and plots are page turners! Rhett Samuel Price does a wonderful job narrating this tale of loss and rebirth. It was pure joy to listen to! WOW!

Emotional Good But trigger warning

Jasper Jacks is a good story. I enjoyed it very much. It is very emotional and deals with strong and hard issues ptsd, rape, torture, and relationship boundaries ( trigger warning). Written and preformed well
