About this listen

Jemma Larson knows tough times. She's been raising her baby brother ever since her parents perished in a car crash. As the owner of the popular blog, Entertainment with Jem, she has been using the income from her blog to keep them both fed and a roof over their heads. Now her blog's income is declining amidst vicious competition. Jemma needs to do something desperate to be able to feed and take care of herself and her little brother before Social Services comes calling again. Her greatest fear - having her beloved little brother taken from her. Jemma will do anything to prevent that. Even if it means going out on a limb with her blog.

Reading about new reality TV show heartthrob, Daniel Starke, an opportunity presents itself to get an exclusive interview with him. She knows this will boost her blog's readership and income. But everything she's read in the press about Daniel has him painted as a womanizing, self-centered jerk. Pushed to pay her bills, she agrees to the interview.

At their meeting, she realizes that Daniel is nothing like she expected - and sparks fly! Normally shy Jemma is now thrust into the spotlight. But nothing in the entertainment world is as it seems, as Jemma is about to find out.

Note: This book contains some adult situations. 18+, mature audiences recommended.

Erotica with soul searching

When I reviewed the first book, I was dismayed by the cliffhanger. This boxed set doesn’t end with one, so it feels complete. Each book in the series though ends at one of the most intense moments of the story... so don’t think about finishing the book then going to sleep... you’ll be roped in for at least 3 or 4 chapters of the next one (and have the Audible hangover in the morning!)

But it’s a strong story about human relationships, motivations and the choices we all face. The consequences of those choices are made a bit extreme for dramatic effect, but it works.

Like many books in this genre, you get attached to the characters and you just want to shake some sense into them sometimes.

The sex scenes are explicit, as expected. They also tend to pop up without notice after ages of foreshadowing... so be careful if listening in public places. There is some swearing. There is little violence.

Overall, I enjoyed the boxed set.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review.

Great Box Set!

Jemma Larson has had custody of her brother, Robbie, since their parents were killed in a car crash. She is an entertainment blogger and waits tables to help pay the bills. She hasn't done anything original nor tried to push her boundaries to get more viewership. Her rival blogger, Ali, seems to stay one step ahead of her so Jemma decides to try something new. She has an interview set up with Daniel Starke, a reality tv star, whose public image needs an immediate fix. Jemma is surprisingly pleased to find him to be a very kind and personable guy, and not the entitled, arrogant snob that he's portrayed as in the media. There's an immediate spark on both sides and maybe this reputation rehabilitation is going to be something special. But her competition in the blogging world, Ali, is not going to stand idly by as Jemma steals her thunder. Daniel signs a contract for a new reality show with his ex-girlfriend, Lexi, with the stipulation that he not see another woman during its run. He and Jemma manage to sneak around, until it all becomes too much, and Daniel suggests they not see each other until the show is over. She's sick at heart, but her spirits are lifted by a chance meeting with Jasper, a sizzling hot rock star, who wants her for himself. Daniel has some competition! Through all of this, Jemma's worst nightmare comes true. She loses track of Robbie, Child Protective Services is called and her custody of her brother is threatened. Daniel stands by her but, after all the chaos dies down, Jemma says she just can't live like this anymore and pushes everyone away. If Daniel would only come to his senses and see just how Lexi is playing him, there might be a chance for Jemma and Daniel. Lexi is left with one trick up her sleeve and it's a disgusting one, at that. But just as karma can do, it kicks her and lays her out flat! The loose ends are all tied up and it's a very satisfying HEA. Laurie West does an admirable job with the narration. Her voice is dynamic and her characters are well-defined with their own personalities. Excellent box set!

reality tv is off the rails

This boxset further proves what we've all known or expected- reality is false. It's all about the exposure and ratings and it's cutthroat. People are willing to go to unscrupulous lengths to further themselves regardless of damages to others. There were several villains in the story and luckily karma got its' just deserts. I liked Dan and Jem's characters because they were strong and had integrity. Yes, they had human moments and reactions, but they are basically good people. I enjoyed following their journey and the conclusion was satisfying. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job with voices and expressions.

Quite the Drama!

A very solid four star series. Typically, I'm not a fan of so much drama but in this case, it was usually well balanced with other aspects of the characters. Jemma's seemingly quiet life is upturned when she scores an interview with Daniel Stark, an up-and-coming actor. She's suddenly thrust into the limelight and becomes the focus of hateful energy from others. Things go from decent to bad to worse to good to bad to great throughout the series.

I enjoyed the voice provided by the narrator. An overall enjoyable experience.

This audio book set was amazingly written. The story line was a perfect mixture of regular days, drama, love and family. The narrator did a wonderful job as well!
