About this listen

If Isaiah is the “thundering prophet”, then Jeremiah is the “weeping prophet”. Jeremiah holds the terrible position of being both a priest and a prophet; he represents both the people before God, and God before the people—not unlike a lawyer representing both husband and wife in a contentious and bitter divorce! Join Logos Bible Study’s Dr. Bill Creasy as he follows Jeremiah, the “weeping prophet”, through his many trials and tribulations.

Editorial reviews

Dr. Bill Creasy of Logos Bible Study uses a literary, historical approach to examine and enliven the bible for modern listeners. Dr. Creasy draws on his studies, travels, and personal anecdotes to depict a vivid picture of the works of scripture. Somewhere between a sermon and a college lecture, he delivers these audiobooks with authority but a pleasantly friendly voice and a touch of fun, using contemporary references.

Dr. Creasy, when describing travelling to the synagogue of Jeremiah in Cairo, talks about Jeremiah’s unenviable dual job of priest and prophet, having to "represent the people before God" and "God before the people". The Book of Jeremiah explains the Jews persecution by the Babylonians as God’s punishment for the worship of false idols.

Loved this teaching. Need to listen to it again to put the historical dates in my bible. The historical data makes these prophets so much easier to understand

Great teaching

Why stop reading from Scripture at Chapter 46, though? I love reading word for word through Scripture alongside Bill Creasy, but the word for word stops at 46.

Great account of Jeremiah, Prophet and Priest

I never realized the importance of knowing the history in the old Testament until now. Very helpful in bringing the old and new testament together. I am so thankful for Jesus and the new covenant!

Made Jeremiah come alive in explaining Jeremiah struggles in knowing what God wants in our life but it not being what we believe our want for our life.

Dr. Creasy is brilliant, warm, funny, and an incredible story teller. He elucidates the bible from an intelligent, scholarly Christian perspective. He only occasionally speaks explicitly theologically, and in a way that I think is probably welcoming to non-Christians as well although that's hard for me to judge.

spectacular

While I was listening to this book I was also doing a Precepts Bible study on Jeremiah. I got more out of listening to this book than the Precepts study! I highly recommend it. I will definitely listen to more books by Dr. Creasy. Thank you so much.

What an amazing coverage of the book of Jeremiah!

Dr. Creasy's reading is enjoyable. He does a great job reminding you of the characters, what's happened, what's happening, and what will happen. He ties in other parts of the bible such as deuteronomy, Kings, and Revelation, and Matthew to provide continuity from beginning to end.
