About this listen

Colin: My life is pretty quiet, and I prefer it that way. I do my schoolwork, I have what some would call a nerdy hobby, and I have my, um...toys. Tutoring pays the bills, and when I’m asked to help the star football player fix his grades, it’s just another job, right? Then I find out he’s a dragon-shifter who likes to party rather than study. God, I wonder if the stories about dragon-shifter anatomy are true? Not that I’m likely to find out, since he’s clearly straight!

Leon: Being on the football team and belonging to the best frat on campus is great. I get to have fun, and women throw themselves at me. Life was looking good until my team captain found out I was failing a class and hired a nerdy little human tutor to keep me focused and get me back on track. But...it turns out the guy is actually kind of cute...and quite a distraction!

All Colin wants is a quiet life studying and building his models. All Leon wants is to have fun and play football. When the nerd and the jock are thrown together, logic dictates they can’t both have what they desire...or can they?

I found this by accident via a Facebook add and had to see more as to why there was a dragon behind the football stud. I like ready and finding fanfics that involves shifters so I was delighted to stumble into a literary world that was brand new to me. The characters are very well written and believable. I honestly think I went to school with a Colin and a Pierce.

The narration wasn’t something I’d rant and rave over in terms of character voices, but his vocal tone was spot on and made up for it tenfold.

My favorite part, and possibly the reason for any negative reviews was the erotic moments. They managed to be incredibly hot and steamy while also sounding purely laughable. And Iggy’s narration made it all the better. I can’t say I’ve ever cried laughing while also being rock hard at the same time!

All in all, well worth the read, and I’m excited to read more into the worlds that Noah has created.

Silly cute and mildly erotic

I really liked this book. the story is relatively short at under 5 hours, and easy to get through on a saturday cleaning or having a coffee.

I like the personalities of the main characters and the way their relationship builds somewhat realistically over time, including factoring in leon’s realizing he wants to be with a guy, and both getting past their initial assumptions.

being relationship focused as a plot narrative, the overall story worked well. I liked it being set in a university setting with the tried and true (and not cliche in this instance) jock/tutor pairing. leon is sweet and thoughtful, compared to his carefree exterior, and colin is strong and demanding, under his introverted, nerdy facade.

my only critique is the writing style. it could be done with a bit more friendly, relatable tone. the wording often veers toward formal, and it can come across a bit stilted. the conversations flow naturally in terms of topics, but the back and forth doesn’t show the normal meandering of thought and emotion you’d see in real life, that said, it isn’t a deal breaker for the book, and of course is more of a reflection of my own opinion and preferences on the whole for this genre. as a whole, the writing style is consistent and strong for what it is, I might have only preferred a different approach is all.

anyways it’s a cute read, definitely recommend

It is a very natural progression of gay love and affection. The fantasy aspects only added to its appeal and made the story more enjoyable.

While the beginning was a bit slow, once the story picked up, it was fantastic. I’d definitely recommend this book to others.

I truly got to know these characters and felt a strong connection with them.
