About this listen

When Conor’s dream for Castle Dysert is facing ruin by circumstances outside his control he refuses to be beaten. Surely there must be a way to save everything they’ve worked so hard for? Then, as all hope seems lost, a solution in the form of a reality TV show called ‘Grandma says we’re Irish’ presents itself. The producers are convinced Conor is just the man they need to host the show, and what better setting than the gorgeous castle, but is will this new venture save Castle Dysert or destroy it?

A bunch of so-called celebrities are installed, all looking for their Irish roots, and the cameras are rolling, but not everyone is as they seem, and soon, Conor finds himself stuck in the middle of something that even he can’t manage.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK❣️

I admit it — I’m a Jean Grainger-alcoholic. I have yet to read a single thing she’s had on Audible that I HAVEN’T read! This book was no exception.

“The Tour” Series was the second series by Ms. Grainger I read and loved. I INSTANTLY fell in love with Conner O’Shea, and just as quickly with his wife, Anna.

Going back to Castle Dysert felt like going to a family reunion and seeing people you’ve been missing for a very long time.

All the somewhat quirky personalities staying at the Castle during the filming of a reality show, added so much to the story. Some were so rotten, it was hard to not dislike them, then later, decide maybe you were wrong and you DO like them after all. Some characters were rotten to hide their insecurities, but once a glimpse of that vulnerability is seen under the make-up and veneer, it becomes hard to dislike them anymore. One character and the way she treated her dog made me REALLY dislike her. By the end of the book, I still didn’t like her.

I loved the way Connor and Anna’s boy’s, Joe and Arty, befriended a lonely boy (Ryan) in the reality show and then how the three of them concocted a little scheme to help the dog.💕

I cannot say enough good things about the book’s incredibly talented narrator, Siobhan Waring. She is amazing. She switches instantly from character to character and accent to accent without even a pause. Her own beautiful Irish accent is so warm and soothing. Without a doubt Ms.Waring is my number ONE favorite author on Audible❣️ I can listen to her all day long and never tire of her voice or her softly lilting Irish accent.

I highly recommend this book; however, readers will likely enjoy it more if they have already read “The Tour” series first.

Now that I’ve finished this review I am going to immediately listen to this book again from the beginning! I very much want to listen to Ms. Grainger’s latest two books, “Yesterday’s Paper” and the book that follows, but I was SORELY DISAPPOINTED to learn that they are not in Audible format. As a person with very low vision, Audible is the only way I can “read.” I sincerely hope these two books will be available in Audible format.🙏

Another heart warming story

Another heart warming story. It took a little longer to wade through backstory to get to the real plot—very annoying! But the story was good and wrapped up beautifully. The hotel was flooded by the sea and a $3 million barrier was needed. In desperation, Connor allowed a reality tv show to rent the property which caused havoc. Connor is a perfect example of a strong leader.

Fun to return to visit Conor and family

I have listened to everything Jean Grainger has on Audible and was really excited to get the recently released Kayla’s Trick. I wish I could watch the reality show “Grandma Says We’re Irish”… it would be solid craic I am sure!! It would also be fun to stay a few nights in Castle Dysert. The stories and places feel so real. As with all the rest of Jean’s books, this was another winner.

Character development

As with the rest of the Tour series, Conner and his family are portrayed so faithfully and fully. I didn’t care for Kayla but that’s just me. Great story and kept me awake long past bedtime.
