I laughed at first at the straight forwardness, “I enjoy vaccuuming.” But as a person who lives with clutter and hates it - it was really effective - I find myself repeating them with a smile during the day as my house gets less and less cluttered.

I find "Keep a Cleaner House Affirmations" by Stephens Hyang an excellent fit for my needs. The slow narration works like a mantra for me, and the gentle background music makes concentrating on it very pleasant. Robert Gazy's narration lacks the nasality present in many voices, including my own, and I wish I could train my voice to be as easy to listen to as his is.

When working on a mule to get it to do your bidding, you may offer it a carrot, you may beat it with a stick.

Often "the stick" approach has been used to counter mulish resistance to housecleaning. It does have its place.

Nevertheless, this version of "the carrot" approach has been very helpful to me in working against a well-entrenched reluctance not only to clean my living space, but to keep it clean.
