Action, black ops and romance

This is the first book that I've listened to by Cindy Gerard. I had read a short story in a compilation which is why I looked for her name. She's got plenty of story to go with the romance. The sex scenes help carry the story--not just to graphically describe the sex over and over again.

Mike, the disgraced, PTSD suffering hero who finds out 8 years later that it may not have been his fault that half his team died in Afghanistan. Ava, the Latin beauty with a mysterious reason to come find Mike, finds herself in over her head. But soon they are both running from a killer who seems to have them in her sites.

Action packed, the story moves along. The narrator does a fine job with voices for the characters.

Mike "primetime" Brown sizzles in this spin-off

A great book. Action packed from the start.

This book features Mike "Primetime" Brown, an ex-black ops leader who has been hiding away from life and drinking himself into a stupor since losing his men on a mission and taking the fall for the failure.

He is approached by Eva Salinas, the ex-wife of one of his fallen men, and challenged to find out what really happened with that mission and clear his team's name of the disgrace and blame that followed their failed mission in Afghanistan.
Mike contacts Gabe, from the Black ops series, and with Ava's help, the three of them begin to delve into the past, to find what really went down 8 years ago.

Gabe and Ava sizzled to me. Their chemistry was real and raw from the beginning. I kind of wished I had read the Black ops series first because they were mentioning how Gabe used to be, and refering to Mike back in the day, so I will go back and read that series...once I finish this one because it was so good.

Great writing, great flow, so cohesive. I loved it.

Slow Start

I was excited to start another series by Cindy Gerard, but was disappointed ... this book started off very slow; had ups/downs throughout. Ended ok; but book #2 of the series isn't available on Audible.com yet.

Narrator is a bit distracting

Maybe it’s because of the narration in all
Of the previous novels the main character appears in but I didn’t enjoy the narrator’s version of his voice or the other male voices. If I didn’t want to hear his story so much at this point I would have stopped listening.

Good story love Cindy Gerard books another home run in the series.

Although the narrator is good, her voice is not for this novel that was a bit disappointing. The male voice was terrible.

I really like this series - but I hate to say my least favorite narration

My least favorite story, I enjoyed the rest of the series. This one had the least character development.

Entertaining

I don't normally read contemporary romance; I prefer historicals. But I do read thrillers and this caught my attention - melding romances and thrillers. I wasn't disappointed.

I rate 3 stars as a perfectly adequate book and this was certainly that. There was enough tension - more than enough at some points - and the relationship between Mike and Eva was fun.

I think I may have found a new genre to explore.
