About this listen

King Solomon’s Mines is set in nineteenth-century Africa. Allan Quartermain, hunter, is commissioned by the valiant Sir Henry Curtis and his jovial friend Captain Good to lead them to the fabled lost mines of King Solomon. In the company of these dauntless men we undertake the most exciting safari ever described. We hunt big game, we go to war with the terrifying King Twala of Kukuanaland and his diabolical henchwoman Gagaoola - and are amazed by the twist at the end.

The story was great, and narration by Mr Homewood was amazing as always. The recording began skipping in the second hour. I assume because of the need to keep the overall time down- but it could have been much better. Characters would begin sentences, and be cut off as the story was picked up elsewhere.

The narrator has done a splendid job interpreting this wonderful classic tale of adventure and daring.

Smashing fine tale!!

I wish that this had stated in the cover or in the description that it was abridged. It says junior classic in the smallest print possible up in the top corner. This is frustrating. I would love to listen to this particular narrator more though. He read very good. The story is good, but it looks like since this book is in the public domain ill be listening to the god offal free version so I can get the full story. A waste of a good credit.

Great book but...
