Pretty straightforward adventure. Short and sweet. Very entertaining. Doyle's prose is about as elegant as they come. Loved the ending, especially the conclusion of the romantic narrative established in the first chapter. Everything basically fell into effortlessly perfect placement.

I loved and until recently haven't emersed myself into the novelizations from which the movies were made. very original story as well as world building that engrossed and keeps your imagination engaged. The feel of it tickles your mind into entertaining the idea or notion that this could could, on any day, be a real place or real events. thought provoking science themes and more realistically tired toyed with storyline compared to the movies. only thing as upset about is that I haven't been interested and read much sooner. a few laughs thrown in and unique one of a kind quirky characters you can't help but love, and want to befriend. a few good feels as well, Born by the bonds made of these otherwise unlikely companions, which might make you think, that had you been in a like situation, in this world or your imagination, you'd want to be part of this unlikely bunch on any day. classic and overall feel good read that is awesome the first time and even better another time around!!

I have listened or read everything of Arthur Conan Doyle. This one is just long enough for a roundtrip drive or rainy weekend. Very well narrated. I love this narrator’s accent. Reads like a Jules Verne novel. Highly recommend.

This title was absolutely amazing! I’ve always been fond of the classics of litterateur and this was no exception! There was always some sense of suspense! This is by FAR one of the best classics in literature

Parts of it read like Jurassic Park the movie without the heavy science and technology of Jurassic Park the novel. The story has additional elements as well and of course Arthur Conan Doyle did it first. I was able to get through this in one day without getting bored or being tempted to switch to another book.

This book is filled with adventure and wonder. I listened to it while backpacking in the South Cumberland State Park and it was a great companion.

A great classic

AC Doyle spins a tale like Kipling. You have to just stop and look at the world as the words create it. Did you like "The Man Who would be King"... Movie or print. This is like that but the movies of this story are a crude mirage of the elegance that Doyle includes in his telling of this tale. There are no blonde babes getting mauled by bats or any of that other Hollywood farce. Just the classical retelling of a remarkable journey.
