About this listen

Princess Wren is not the crown princess. Everyone else might think her six older brothers are dead, but she knows the truth. They're very much alive, and her oldest brother will absolutely assume the throne. Once he becomes a little less feathered . . . and beaky. The trouble is, that requires Wren to fulfill the terms of the curse that transformed her brothers into swans—which means she can't speak a word to a living soul.

For six years.

Prince Basil wants to become king at eighteen about as much as he wants to inherit the war that's burdened his kingdom for six long years. With the death of his father, he's determined to ignore all advice and reach out to their enemies for an armistice. Even if there's no one to negotiate with except the kingdom's silent, timid crown princess. After all, there must be more to her than meets the eye . . . otherwise the dragons Basil regards as friends wouldn't take such an interest in her.

But other forces are at work, ones with no desire to see the war end. If Wren and Basil want to save their people, they'll have to learn to trust each other. Because the only way to uncover their true enemies might be to embrace the ones they thought they knew.

Good, but a little underwhelming compared to the other books in the series

I don't know why at the end of this book I was left feeling "that's it". The characters were interesting and the storyline was interesting enough. I just felt like there was so much anticipation and then it was all resolved at once. The first 3 books ahead of this were better. That being said, it was still a good listen and I would recommend it. Love a Deborah Grace White book. Their clean, interesting, and well written. Looking forward to listening to the next one in the series.

KINGDOM OF FEATHERS, A RETELLING OF THE WILD SWANS, AS THIS TALE HAS NEVER BEEN A FAVORITE FOR ME. I HONESTLY HAVE TO SAY THE AUTHOR MASTER A PARTS OF THE ORIGINAL TALE WITH A WONDERFUL TWIST! THE ENDING IS BEAUTIFUL. AND I CANNOT WAIT FOR PRINCESS ZINNIAS STORY!

Many twists and turns

There were so many unexpected twists and turns that it kept me engaged the whole time. I fully enjoyed this book and finished it in a day and a half. It is fun to find out more about the earlier book characters at the end of this book and introduces even more questions for this series.

Exceptionally Creative Rendition of a classic tale.

I couldn’t wait to see how the author saw the story unfolding. Loved every twist and turn of the plot. A beautiful and compelling new way to see a story you cannot miss.
