Publisher's summary

Sullivan Brady has always followed his own rules. The biggest one: Don't get attached. When his sister went missing when he was a child, it taught him a hard lesson. Sometimes loving someone leaves you open to unimaginable pain. He vowed to never be in that position with anyone ever again - until Lana. She alone touches his heart and has the power to heal age-old wounds. When she almost dies, he loses it and starts to question every decision he's ever made.

Surviving a car accident quickly followed by heart surgery leaves Lana Kelly vulnerable. She's always had a soft spot for Sullivan but has tried her best to keep him at a distance. Only a fool would trust him to honor a commitment regarding matters of the heart. He's known for his serial dating and inability to love. When he starts a campaign to win Lana's heart, she is ill prepared to fight him.

As the days go by, Lana starts to believe in a happy ever after with Sullivan. Someone else has other ideas, though, and they might not survive long enough to discover what true happiness is.

So so much potential

This storyline has so much potential. But it was lacking in alot of the actual story building. I understand her resentment toward her teenage crush not returning her feelings but to the extent she did was a bit much. And the way their story progressed there was no feeling in it because of how quickly it went. I felt no real connection with the characters and I hated that. I just felt it was a bit rushed when the writer has so much potential to work with in way of the story. It jumped around a bit. I do like how the story wrapped up in the end and how despite everything I had to finish the book to see what happened because there were some turns and twists in the story I didn't see coming. Its a good storyline with a steamy ending. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the story to life.

I requested and was given this audiobook complimentary at my request and have voluntarily left this review with my honest opinion.

Interesting Story!

This is the fourth book in the Heart's Intent. I haven't listened to the first book in the Series. The characters are great. The story is filled with twists, intrigue, suspense, and romance. The narration was good. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.

A sweet, second chance romance........

Kiss My Heart Goodbye is the fourth book in this series, and I definitely wish that I had read the first three prior to this one. Although the author tries to make this a standalone, and I quickly picked up on the characters, I felt that I was missing a large portion of the backstory. This made it difficult for me to become invested in the relationship between the main characters, Lana and Sully. It seemed like Sully just decided Lana and he would be a couple, and, voila, they were a couple. Luckily, the push and pull that is a staple in the romance genre came after that point. Sully had unintentionally hurt Lana in their past, and that left her extremely guarded with her heart. Include with that Sully's man-whore ways, and he had a challenge getting Lana to trust him. Added to the fairly low level relationship angst was a mystery and some life-threatening action, both of which the author wrapped up skillfully with a plausible solution at the end. Overall, this was an enjoyable story, and I plan to read the first three in the series soon.

My review of Libby Marshall is mixed. She has a pleasant voice, and I liked her tone and use of emphasis. However, her delivery is somewhat stilted and clunky. I found this distracted from the plot and story, and I am not sure that I would listen to another of her narrations in the future.

Great Story, Great Narration!

Dawn Brower wrote Kiss My Heart Goodbye as part of a series, yet I found it to be an incredible standalone listen. I loved how she writes characters from different backgrounds and has incredible imagery. Overcoming loss and heartache is part of this story, but not the whole. Libby Marshall is a new narrator to me. I was delighted with her performance. She added the right emotions. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Kiss My Heart Goodbye

This book was great! I loved how strong Lana was, and Sully, oh my! The story is well written, characters are likeable, both main and supporting. Although it's 4th in a series, you don't have to read the others to understand and enjoy this one. The only drawback, however minimal, was the narration. There was so little variation between characters I found myself a bit lost at times. It also almost seemed like the narrator switched part way through, which was weird. When I sped the playback up to 135 it helped. Aside from that, this was a great book! I received a free copy of this book, and am voluntarily leaving this unbiased review.

Hearts That Mend

The main characters in this book Lana Kelly and Sullivan Brady although very different in both personalities and social backgrounds, share one thing in common. Both have experienced emotional losses in the past that impart significant effect upon willingness to become involved in any current relationship. Eventually, the characters do become involved however they encounter new challenges in the present that also affect their relationship. Without saying much more to giveaway the story, I would strongly recommend this audiobook. This is the fourth work in a series but can stand alone as a read- listen. This is the 3rd or 4th work I have listened to from this author and I must say she never disappoints. If you are looking for a romantic novel with a bit of intrigue and adventure woven in, you’ll find this book will suit you well.

I received a free cologne this audiobook and have placed this review voluntarily.

Pluses and Minuses

Pluses and Minuses

I quite enjoyed the first book of this series, though I thought the heroine flew off the handle too often, but was not wild about the series’ third book at all. This book falls somewhere between those two. The hero’s character came in later in book one, but I quite liked him. However, his character seems to have changed somewhat in this book, and not in a good way! He came across as a genuinely good guy in that first book, haunted by the ghost of his long-missing sister and how that affected their little nuclear family. In this book, he's portrayed as a bit of a player (and even a man-ho’) … a vibe I never got from him in the first book. This audiobook is significantly longer than several others in this series, potentially allowing the author more room to explore characterization and plot. I don't feel the author used that extra word real estate to the best advantage. I also felt like the hero flipped-flopped a bit without really showing true growth between point A and point B. He suddenly goes from being a player to being solely devoted to the heroine without an epiphany even, let alone a true character growth arc. The story is the classic romantic pairing of a wealthy hero and a heroine below him in social status. The heroine was believable and likable, even if she could be a bit prickly at times. I don't blame her for not trusting the hero, given how he had treated her before and allowed others to treat her in his presence.

I found the narrator problematic. While I never listen to audiobooks at 1.0 speed, I actually had to increase it for this one because, even at my normal 1.5 reading speed, the narrator spoke way tooooooo slowly and left too many looooong pauses. I don't want an audiobook to put me to sleep because it is so slow!

Sweet romantic suspense

Lazana, aka Lana, has always loved the son of her mother’s employer. When Sully didn’t defend her from his then-girlfriend, her teen heart was broken and she resolved to move on. Now almost a decade has passed and the tables have turned. After a car accident leaves Lana in a coma, Sullivan acknowledges that he loves Lana and willingly gives up his playboy ways. Now he just needs to convince Lana that he’s serious so she will stop fighting with him. But is Lana safe? It appears that someone doesn’t want Lana around...let’s not forget that one of Sully’s employee’s has been murdered at work! Lots going on in this book...murder, mayhem, a wedding...all while Sullivan is trying to win over Lana.
Good story but more enjoyable if you’ve read earlier books in the series so you know all of the supporting characters.
