About this listen

A Horus Heresy: Primarchs novel

Few among the legendary primarchs are as feared as Konrad Curze, the Night Haunter. Even before his fall to darkness, he was a sinister legend, a remorseless killer. This is his story.

Listen to it because:

The Night Haunter is a fascinating character, a man who could have been a hero, but for the daemons that plague him, the result of his nightmarish visions of a future he helps to create. Guy Haley delves into this lord of the night, in a story you'll never forget…

The story:

Of all the Emperor’s immortal sons, the primarchs, it is Konrad Curze whose legend is the darkest. Born in the shadows of Nostramo, a world of murderers, thieves and worse, is it any surprise that he became the figure of dread known only as the Night Haunter? Heed now the tragic story of the creature Konrad Curze, master of the Night Lords Legion, of how he became a monster and a weapon of terror. He who once served the Imperium saw the truth in a maddening universe and the hypocrisy of a loveless father, and embraced the only thing that made any sense - darkness. From the blood-soaked gutters of his hiveworld upbringing, to the last days of his ill-fated existence, Curze is a primarch like no other and his tale is one to chill the very bone....

This was a great book to listen to as it offered a lot of insight into events hinted at and left alone. Contains a couple visits from some of my long time favorites in the Night Lords Chapter.

Finally a good story for Curze

this might be my favorite Warhammer book, ever. The book NAILEd it. If you've read/listened to much of the Lore about other Primarchs and the universe in general you'll immediately feel a sense of unease of how this book portrays Konrad. You can feel thru the words how unwell and insane he's become and it was a pleasure listening to it unfold. I'm going to listen to it again immediately.

WOW.

Of recent, I have begun painting a company of the The Nighthaunter’s traitorous sons … The Night Lords. Several months to get down the menace and terror they convey.
However, even the horror of the Emperor of Mankind’s former shock troops are a pale shadow of the malicious predation, demonic sadism and archetypal schizophrenia of their gene-sire Konrad Kurze.
This story is somewhat an autobiography; but it is conduct as an imagined dialogue between Kurze and the statue of The Emperor he has constructed … entirely out of the body parts and offal of mutilated serfs.
Guy Hale has done a deliciously macabre job of painting this sometimes prophet, sometimes cannibal in all his blood drenched and bile scented glory.
Equally marvelous is Keeble’s reading. His ability to taint the voice of the Nighthaunter with a combination of Hamlet and Hannibal Lecter is as mesmerizing as it is bone chilling.
Definitely one of the best novels of the Horus Heresy, and insightful of the Primarch series.

Dark, repugnant, shocking and … deeply satisfying.

I could recommend this on the voice acting alone. Its enhanced if you like Night lords. The VA’s shoulders must be worn out from carrying this book!

Such a great audio book!

Fantastic story, with a stellar performance from the voice actor. it was a very solid perspective of the Night Lords, and a good look at what makes Konrad Curze tick.

Exceptional story
