Publisher's summary

Carolyn Haines's Lady of Bones is the next novel in the series that Kirkus Reviews characterizes as "Stephanie Plum meets the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" featuring sassy Southern Private Investigator Sarah Booth Delaney.

It's Halloween season in Mississippi as Sarah Booth and the gang gather to decorate and gush over Tinkie's new baby, Maylin. Sarah Booth is just about to refresh the cocktails when she hears a knock on the door and opens it to find a woman named Frankie, distraught at the disappearance of her daughter, Christa, a young journalist. Christa had been investigating the disappearance of young women in New Orleans over a five-year period—one every year around Halloween. Now Christa herself is missing, and Frankie fears it may be connected to a cult based in the Garden District called People of Eternity.

People of Eternity are known to have far-reaching connections that Frankie worries may reach as high as law enforcement. Refusing to contact the authorities, she turns to Delaney Detective Agency as her only hope.

Despite initial reservations, Sarah Booth accepts the case, which takes her on a journey to a secret underworld of beguiling cult leaders, witchcraft, and potentially human sacrifice. She'll have to keep her wits about her if she wants to crack this case...and make it home alive.

Good story line

This was a good storyline for these characters. She has moved on from the obsession with Coleman to life and other cases where Coleman can help. Loved it!

Another Excellent Adventure for Sarah Boothe and Friends

This may be one of my favorites in this series. The characters have all matured and evolved into richer characters. Sarah Boothe is comfortable in her own skin. Jitty is still around, but far less annoying and certainly more sympathetic.

The story flows well — a great mystery with multiple twists and turns.

The narration continues to exceed expectations. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Can’t wait for the next book

I found this series by accident many years ago! I’ve been hooked since the first read. I’m so glad I can listen to the books now. I can listen in situations that I can’t read in. Whenever I listen to these books it’s like meeting up with friends. I love the narration, no one is trying to fake a Mississippi accent. Thank you for the hours of fun!

Great Series

This is just another great book in this wonderful series. Who doesn’t love a sassy girl from the south who refuses to be a a Southern Belle? Nope, she has a ghost living in her not so perfect antebellum home and she is a private detective who is always jumping in head first. Love this series!
