About this listen

In a very uncharacteristic attempt at a little revenge, a little vindication, Lily splurges on a first-class plane ticket…using her soon-to-be-ex-husband’s credit card. If he insists that she travel to him, when he’s the one who filed, the one who cheated, then the least he can do is pay for her to fly in comfort.

But Lily soon learns, the bigger seats and ample leg room aren’t the only things that are better beyond that classing curtain. The company’s more than worth every extra cent.

Trevor Kinkade always flies first-class…on his private jet. But the one time he finds himself aboard a commercial flight, he also finds Lily.

Not that he had to look very hard; she’s sitting right beside him.

They’re nothing alike, from two very different worlds, except for one huge, perhaps serendipitous, similarity—they’re in the same place, where neither have ever been before, at the same time—because of two, perfectly aligned off-chances.

Or, could it be the chance for both of them to find what they’ve always wanted?

Originally featured, in part, in Pick Your Pleasure, this is Laid Over, Lily and Trevor’s story in its entirety, with refurbished scenes, new scenes, and of course…its HEA.

Cute Story, rough delivery

The storyline was great, loved the characters but the performance was so rough to listen to.

short and sweet

Trevor Kinkade is enamored with Lily the first time he saw her. He thought she was sweet, funny. He never laughed so much with a woman before. Most women pretend to be the perfect person.
This was her first time flying on a plane. she decided to fly first class by using her cheating husband's credit card. Sitting next her her was this handsome hunk of a man.
Lily is sweet, naive, trusting. Mechanical problems with the plane, caused a layover. She needed to get to her destination the next morning.
Trevor wants to know her better, he decides to help her and arranged to drive there.
Diane Lyon and Jack Rider are new narrators for me. They were very good.
I enjoyed listening to this delightful story. It is fun, uplifting, enjoyable.

Fun, quick, listen!

On her way to her day in court, Lily finds herself in a tough spot as her flight is delayed. She has to make it on time to try and prevent her soon-to-be ex from taking everything from her. Trevor is sitting next to her. This gorgeous man is taken with her and is going to do what he can to help her out. What Lily gets though is much more than a good settlement. This insta-love quick listen is easy and fun. Trevor is quite the man, coming to her aid and knowing exactly what she needs. He is incredibly patient and his protectiveness is impossible to not love. Lily proves just how resilient she is. I would love to get a full story of these two, but SE Hall definitely packs a lot into this "quickie"!

To tell us this story, we have Diana Lyon and Jack Rider. Both are new to me, and I enjoyed both of their voices. Lyon is wonderful, finds the essence of Lily and brings it full force in her performance. Definitely hurt, and angry with her ex, but the attraction to Trevor is giving her confidence, all heard in the inflections. Rider is our warm, protective Trevor. He swoops in and fills our heart with the nuances he uses in his voice. I enjoyed their narration and will be watching for more from them.

It's okay

It's short. It's easy to listen to and/or fail to listen to attentively. It's just a little boring and unexceptional. I don't hate it. I just also didn't really get into it. The storyline felt trite and overdone. I was hoping for a little bit of something different or unexpected or funny or spicy. It was honestly kind of bland for me, and it didn't really evoke any emotions. The characters were very unmemorable. It maybe just wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm an avid reader (400-500 books per year), which may make me a harsher critic.

Not for me

I am received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The story was ok, I think if the dialogue had been better and cleaner I might have liked it better.

The male narrator did great at the male parts, but I was not a fan of his female speaking part. The female narrator was fine but her voice felt too old for the character.

The story didn’t give me any of the feels I like in a book with the push and pull of the characters. I’m willing to give the author another shot but this book was not for me.

Lily and Trevor

This was a pretty good short story with a really nice ending. I would love to know what Trevor did to Lily's ex-husband. Would also like to know what Trevor's line of work is. Diana Lyon and Jack Rider did a really good job with the narration except Jack did a terrible female voice. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Delightful!

Lily Myers is flying to meet her soon-to-be ex-husband and she's flying in style; first class cabin, upgraded amenities and a handsome stranger as her seatmate. Trevor Kincaide is a man who knows what he wants and what he likes. His first impression of Lily was that she was fascinating and sweet, but there was something behind her eyes that wasn't happy. As they fly, he asks just the right questions and, in her own, inimitable fashion, Lily is sarcastic, snarky and even insulting. She doesn't really know how to talk to a man who cares what she says. It's endearing to see her get flustered and his ability to anticipate what should come next, made for a story that was sweet, sexy and heartwarming. Lily didn't know that she had just found a knight in shining armor to protect her from "the wicked husband" and to show her that there is room in her life to give love another chance. It's short, but perfectly satisfying!
The narration is beautifully done by Diana Lyon and Jack Rider. Their clear and distinctive voices give each character a unique personality and attitude as they bring them to life.

A Sweet & Enjoyable Romance! Great Story & Listen🎧

I enjoyed this fabulously delightful instant love romance novella, the story drew me in right from the start and captivated my attention the entire time. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Lily Meyer’s soon to be ex-husband is trying to take everything from her, her day in court is happening tomorrow and she booked a first class fight to get there. But mechanical problems grounds the plane and her plan to get there on time. Frantic to come up with another solution, and she gets help from the gorgeous man who left her speechless when she first laid eyes on him, Trevor Kincade. I adored these two characters, Lily is sweet and there is a goodness about her, Trevor comes off as powerful and there is a mystery about him. Trevor gets her to court on time and he gets all protective, too. This novella sized book packed a whole lot of story and I loved how everything played out, I would have loved even more if the story was longer. It is a beautifully plotted story with the perfect balance of drama, charm, heartfelt emotions and a wonderful romance. S.E. Hall, thank you for this sweet story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Diana Lyon and Jack Rider did a fabulous job bringing these characters and their story to life. They do that with a complete understanding of the characters they are portraying, giving each a voice that fit the character’s persona perfectly, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance. These talented and versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen.
