A very helpful set of discourses.

While the first chapter was likely the best, the whole book was useful for consideration especially if one is considering a public preached ministry.

An Excellent Resource book For Preachers and Pastors

Indeed, Charles H. Spurgeon merited tge title of King of Oreachers of all times in English language.
I have been preaching the gospel for about fifty years and I have authored many books, some on Theological issues, but Spurgeon always teaches you some crucial matters every time he is consulted in this book.
I love the pragmatic insights and especially practicals of preaching.
His treatment of Anecdotes to me, is non-pareil, indeed no equals.
It is well read and well supported y Bible references. I recommend it to all Pastors, preachers and serious Christians.

Incredible book!!!

Charles Spurgeon’s lectures are just as relevant for Christian leaders today as they were 150 years ago. Any Christian in a leadership position, either spiritual or secular, must read this book!

Marvelous, but Limited

Since these were lectures at Pastor’s College, they could only be so long, so there were things that Spurgeon would’ve talked about but didn’t. And I wish this were not so, because he was wise, new God’s Word very well, and could easily have spoken for twice as long on many more important matters. But there’s no taking away of a star, for of itself, his book is lectures is superb!

Also, Grover Gardner’s narration of them is magnificent - to be expected when his name is attached. One of my favorite things about him is that, when he reads what’s in quotation marks, whether it be a conversation or an excerpt from other writings, he changes his pitch slightly. I’m one to read along while I listen and, if my eyes tire, my ears never will, and, even with eyes closed, I can tell when Grover Gardner’s narrating the book or quotations within the book. Well done, sir!
