About this listen

Pastor, preacher, and New York Times best-selling author Timothy Keller's wisdom on communicating the Christian faith from the pulpit as well as from the coffee shop.

Most Christians - including pastors - struggle to talk about their faith in a way that applies the power of the Christian Gospel to change people's lives. Timothy Keller is known for his insightful, down-to-earth sermons and talks that help people understand themselves, encounter Jesus, and apply the Bible to their lives. In this accessible guide for pastors and laypeople alike, Keller helps listeners learn to present the Christian message of grace in a more engaging, passionate, and compassionate way.

Critic reviews

"Tim Keller's ministry in New York City is leading a generation of seekers and skeptics toward belief in God. I thank God for him." (Billy Graham)
"Unlike most suburban megachurches, much of Redeemer is remarkably traditional. What is not traditional is Dr. Keller's skill in speaking the language of his urbane audience.... Observing Dr. Keller's professorial pose on stage, it is easy to understand his appeal." ( The New York Times)

"Fifty years from now, if evangelical Christians are widely known for their love of cities, their commitment to mercy and justice, and their love of their neighbors, Tim Keller will be remembered as a pioneer of the new urban Christians." (

Christianity Today Magazine)

I love Kellers other books and this one is no exception! Totally recommend it to fellow preachers!

Amazing Book

Tim Keller has done a marvelous job of getting to the heart of preaching; it's all about the glory and greatness of Jesus, and what God has done, and is doing, through Him.

I will likely listen to the audiobook of this, many times down the line.

Keller does a remarkable job of avoiding the trap of, "It's either this or that, not both/and", that we Christians (and human beings in general) are so prone toward. He maintains that m

One of the best big-picture books on preaching

It has been my privilege to attend Redeemer Church and witness Keller in his pulpit. He truly practices the principles he sets forth in the book. As a preacher for over forty years I found this book to be challenging, uplifting and strengthening to my own ministry.

Great Encouragement and Teaching

Keller brings a lot of wisdom. This is just a “how to write a sermon” book.

Must read

I have read and studied this book several times, and its message is so critical and relevant to me, that I have it on my Audible library to listen to it as a constant reminder. Why is this book so relevant?
21st century can be described as an age of skepticism. Although “spirituality” is a very common individualistic practice, Christian churches are loosing popularity and preachers have been trying to attract people by different communication techniques instead of the only way that the Church history has witnessed as real power from God producing life out of death, and revivals out of pessimism, and that is the preaching of the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is precisely what bestselling author Tim Keller shows in this book about preaching the Word of God, preaching the Gospel every time, and preaching Christ from all of Scripture to the culture we live on, to the modern mind and to the old human heart. This is a book that every preacher must read, and everybody regardless our role society should learn about because this is not a book about the messenger who preaches, but this is about the message we should communicate, namely, the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Every preacher must listen to this again and again

This is a great book for anyone even if they are not interested in preaching. It could just be called 'talking' or 'what to expect from preaching' since it deals largely with practical ideas and truths of Christianity. great book.

Great book

I love Tim Keller, yet here is where I find how insightful he really is. This is edifying and humbling in light of the calling we ministers share.

Amazing Calling

This is a great resource for teachers, preachers, and anyone who wants to share the Gospel better. Pastor Keller does an excellent job in reminding us to not only live in Christ and share that truth but also he reveals how Christ is evident in all of scripture. I ended up downloading the Kindle version so that I could highlight and bookmark areas for me to go back on.

Not just for preachers

The new textbook for preaching. I will review it often. I find it good for my skill and great for my heart

My vote for the standard for preaching

I would read this and Andy Stanley’s “Communicate for Change.” They compliment each other but also disagree in different areas. Both have points that would help in particular situations but not so well in others. Keller’s emphasis on what makes a preacher great is one of the highlights of this book.

Great
