The Event Group is comprised of the nation’s most brilliant men and women in the fields of science, philosophy, and the military. Led by Major Jack Collins, their job is to find the truth behind the world's greatest unsolved myths. And this time, Collins and his crew will dare to uncover a terrifying secret - about the long-vanished tribe of the Incas - that's buried deep within the Amazon Basin.
The last expedition into the depths and darkness of the Amazon claimed the lives of a female professor and her team. Now the Event Group, using cutting-edge technology exclusively designed by the U.S. military, will travel to the ends of the earth - from Brazil to the Little Bighorn to the Arlington National Cemetery - to bring new meaning to an ancient disaster... or bury the legend forever... or die trying.

Any additional comments?
As the third book in the series, I really enjoyed the take on how the legend of El Dorado was done in the world of the Event Group. The gold, combined with the animals and other items within El Dorado, made the story entertaining and the combat intense. The only issue I had with the book was the abrupt death of one of the characters in the final chapter of the book. It seemed more like an arbitrary way to change a characters direction for the authors future use than something more natural.Another Great Event

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would only if I was SURE that they could enjoy the profound leaps of faith that this story, and the Event Group series in general, requires. What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Most: the history of the search for El Dorado over the centuries.Least: what does the ole' whipping boy, the Roman Catholic Church, have to do with it??
What three words best describe Richard Poe’s voice?
DetailedCompelling ( at times )
Consistent

Is there anything you would change about this book?
The need to hype the tension by so many contrived situations. This book started out strong with a good basic storyline, but by midway, the author seemed to decide he needed to write as if it was a movie or daytime soap instead of letting the story develop, there were just dozens of artificial "Hype the tension scenes" eg they forgot to turn on the sonar, just before being attacked! The boat following just happened to go under a bridge, Apparently on a trip to the Amazon jungle nobody brought satellite phones! They went to the beach with only pistols. by the end it was predictable and becoming tedious that in every scene something was going to go wrong and in a drawn out tedious way, near the end I was saying enough already get it over with. It had the makings of a great book but I think he decided it should be a 1 hr action movie script with ever increasing dramatic scenes that only resolved with 10 minutes to go.Would you ever listen to anything by David L. Golemon again?
