About this listen

Not everyone has pulled shards of another man's skull from the palm of their hand. Not everyone has stood over the bodies of friends whose lives were lost in an instant. Not everyone has struggled to face their own reflection for years on end. But anyone who has experienced trauma or adversity will resonate with Legion Rising, the unflinchingly honest account of an army officer's journey through combat in the Iraq War and rising beyond the scars that trauma leaves behind.

Experience an honest, unedited, and occasionally humorous glimpse of the rigors of military training through Jeff’s eyes. Follow Jeff through up-close, fast-paced accounts of the thrills and dangers of combat as a Platoon Leader in Iraq. Feel the weight of the gruesome and tragic loss of eight men whose lives were lost in the line of duty. Journey with Jeff through his battle to face the scars and shadows that followed him long after his time serving in the military was over.

Through Jeff's authentic voice and brave transparency, readers will be drawn into his story and find themselves able to relate to his struggle and ultimate rise from adversity.

This is not simply a military memoir, it’s a memoir of life - of tragedy, healing, and leadership. Through the heart-pounding stories of combat to the transparent and personal look into the process of healing, a message emerges - one that will inspire people across all walks of life.

“Inspiring story and love the message of overcoming!”

Great book! I really enjoyed listening to this book. Jeff does a great job telling his story in a detailed and honest way. His story is very inspirational, how to overcome life challenges and keep moving forward despite the scars you are left with.
I liked the message of “the healing process” that can be applied no matter what the traumatic experience has been.

Incredible!

I could not recommend this book more!

If you are struggling, or have struggled, with any internal demons, big or small this book is for you.

I am blessed and honored to know Jeff Morris as a friend. In this story he not only lets his guard down, but rips the curtain back completely to give you a first hand glimpse into the struggles he and his me faced not just during war, but in the lifetime that has followed.

He does not do it in a way to cause the reader guilt, but to inspire us all that we too can overcome any challenges in our own lives. It’s not about how big or small those challenges may be, but about not allowing them to define us or hold us back.

As a parent of a child with special circumstances, I have long struggled with a need for understanding of why her, and the feeling of how unfair things can seem. This book was instrumental in allowing me to refocus on the beauty of the life our daughter has, and the opportunities those circumstances have created for us to help others and spread love.

I will forever be greatful to Jeff for allowing himself and his experience to be shared like this with the world.

If you are trying to decide whether or not to get this book, just do it. You won’t regret it!

transcending the wounds of warfare

An excellently written and narrated account of the effects war has on a soldier and how one can transcend the negative impacts and use them to lead change in others.

Thankful for your story, your service, and your impact. Thankful for the men who served alongside Jeff, who list their lives for a greater good. And thankful for the men and women who continue to serve today.

The gritty reality..

Great book on one man’s introspection from naive young man, to accomplished Soldier and leader, and, later, the scarred veteran seeking to balance the experiences of his past into a driving purpose for his future.

The only thing that could’ve been better is if my friend had read it himself. Great Job Jeff!
