"La Nouvelle Héloïse" est le roman de Rousseau : l'auteur y dépeint une utopie servant à mettre en scène ses idées philosophiques et y donne à voir ce que doit être pour lui le sentiment d'amour : un état passionné, servant sans cesse à magnifier et honorer la raison.

Publication posthume du penseur de Genève, les Rêveries tiennent autant du journal autobiographique que de réflexions philosophiques.
