Publisher's summary

An object of desire? Or of fear?

It was stolen from a New Orleans grave - the centuries-old bust of an evil man, a demonic man. It’s an object desired by collectors - and by those with wickedness in their hearts.

One day, its current owner shows up at Danni Cafferty’s antiques shop on Royal Street, the shop she inherited from her father. But before Danni can buy the statue, it disappears, the owner is found dead…and Danni discovers that she’s inherited much more than she realized. In the store is a book filled with secret writing: instructions for defeating evil entities. She’d dismissed it as a curiosity...until the arrival of this statue, with its long history of evil and even longer trail of death.

Michael Quinn, former cop and now private investigator, is a man with an unusual past. He believes that doing the right thing isn’t a job - it’s a way of life. And the right thing to do is find and destroy this object weighted with malevolent powers. He and Danni are drawn together in their search for the missing statue, following it through sultry New Orleans nights to hidden places in the French Quarter and secret ceremonies on abandoned plantations.

Cafferty and Quinn already know that trust in others can be misplaced, that love can be temporary. And yet their connection is primal. Mesmerizing. They also know that their story won’t end when this case is closed and the dead rest in peace once again.

Good listen

Not my favorite of all, but it had a good unpredictable story. Not my usual romance mystery, very little romance at all. Still, a good mystery with a little romance mixed in. No hot and steamy scenes.

Saccharine

Too saccharine for me. I wouldn’t have been surprised if someone swooned. Good premise though

Not up to par

Would you try another book from Heather Graham and/or Natalie Ross?

No from Heather Graham, always from Natalie Ross

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

this had such promise, but it never came! Nora Roberts is too wordy, so this had the potential, but it just had one tone from start to finish. Divine evil was too close.
Ms Graham wants a series with the start of this one. This just seemed long, but lacked the
punch of Linda Howard or Sandra Brown.

Which scene was your favorite?

all with Wolf

Did Let the Dead Sleep inspire you to do anything?

No. I pre ordered and listen straight through. Not worth my time with the exception that Ms Ross saved the listen. Her male voice is just so good.

Any additional comments?

I use to read earlier works of Ms Graham, you must be a fan of her works to buy this.

Always a big fan of Heather's work.

Would you listen to Let the Dead Sleep again? Why?

I truly enjoy her writing. She takes the time to describe the venue, history and the people involved. Its always a well weaved story with surprises and of course love and a crime. Read them all I say, even the not so good ones are better than most good books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This story is the start of a new series. Interesting and hopefully the next one will be a little more organized now that all the players in the book. This book is a pleasant read.

Not bad

Good story to get lost in for its duration. It was predictable and had many cliche's but I liked the Characters (mostly the dog Wolf) Not a bad warm up for a fun series. Natalie Ross did a good job with the narration.

Love This Series!

I found this series after listening to one of the books through my Romance Subscription and now I'm addicted. In particular, the first book was satisfying without giving away too much backstory. The book left me wanting to know more and finishing the series is my new reading priority.

while I enjoyed the performance and story I often found myself wondering when the characters would figure out the oh so obvious clues
