About this listen

On the edge of the Everglades, an eerie crime scene sets off an investigation that sends two agents deep into a world of corrupted faith, greed and deadly secrets.

A ritualistic murder on the side of a remote road brings in the Florida state police. Special Agent Amy Larson has never seen worse, and there are indications that this killing could be just the beginning. The crime draws the attention of the FBI in the form of Special Agent Hunter Forrest, a man with insider knowledge of how violent cults operate, and a man who might never be able to escape his own past.

The rural community is devastated by the death in their midst, but people know more than they are saying. As Amy and Hunter join forces, every lead takes them further into the twisted beliefs of a dangerous group that will stop at nothing to see their will done.

Doomsday preppers and small-town secrets collide in this sultry, twisty pause-resisting thriller.

Exciting

A great romantic suspense story with a Christian base. The characters are well developed, and the story was taut. It doesn't disappoint. I've just purchased the second book in the series, and am excited to dive right in.

Will be reading more!

This was my first Heather Graham book. I adore her writing. I will definitely be picking up more. This story was so interesting F the chemistry between the main characters was on point!

Great until . . .

The story kept my interest throughout the audible book. The characters were fairly well developed although I think Amy needed more development.

During the first part of the book, the story went from current time back to, I think, 1993 give or take a few years. It worked well in this story. There is some sexual scenes but very mild.

The reason I gave this book a 4 is the ending in the Epilogue. It made me think this was the first book in a series, and I don’t see any indication of this. Kind of left the reader hanging and wanting more!

Eva Kaminsky did a great job as narrator!

Good, ok, Good

Plot and story intriguing from the onset but kind of slowed in the middle. I like the romance. Sex scenes left something to the imagination which i prefer. Ending had a bit of a cliff hanger.

Ok

Story wasn’t too bad. I won’t listen to anything else that this author has written because I’m not into gratuitous sex. It wasn’t necessary to move the story along.

Danger in Numbers by Heather Graham

Danger in Numbers by Heather Graham
Part contemporary Mystery / Thriller, part police procedural, with a dash of romantic suspense. Stand-alone at this point with hints of an upcoming series.

FBI agent Hunter Frost joins Florida Law Enforcement in the investigation of what appears to be a ritualistic murder crime scene. Select chapters bring 1993 into evidence that this may be the reemergence of a cult.

I listened to the audio version which led to a bit of confusion on the two timelines. Once I realized it was two stories, or flashbacks, I restarted and listened closely for identifying differences with “Sam” being the key to the last. I thought the ending to the 1993 storyline was weirdly timed and presented like a happily-ever-after but it didn’t detract from the suspense of whole.

Gripping and gruesome, this book is fast paced and eerie. Can a dynamic individual really influence groups of people to commit murder in the name of faith? History shows it’s entirely possible and this story delves deep into rituals and a corrupt and selfish leader.
The romance in the story was minimalistic.

Danger in Numbers

I didn’t love this but I mostly enjoyed it; enough so that I’ll listen to the next one. I mostly liked the characters even when the author tries to convince me they’re good at the job, but they do something completely stupid. The narrator was ok.

class Heather Graham

This is one of the 1st books in a series where there is a huge cliffhanger with Heather Graham but I am here for it. Can't wait for the next book.
