About this listen

Instant Number One New York Times Best Seller

Instant USA Today Best Seller

The long-anticipated sequel to Sister Souljah’s million copy New York Times best seller The Coldest Winter Ever.

Winter Santiaga hit time served. Still stunning, still pretty, still bold, still loves her father more than any man in the world, still got her hustle and high fashion flow. She’s eager to pay back her enemies, rebuild her father’s empire, reset his crown, and ultimately to snatch Midnight back into her life no matter which bitch had him while she was locked up. But Winter is not the only one with revenge on her mind. Simone, Winter’s young business partner and friend, is locked and loaded and Winter is her target. Will she blow Winter’s head off? Can Winter dodge the bullets? Or will at least one bullet blast Winter into another world? Either way Winter is fearless. Hell is the same as any hood and certainly the Brooklyn hood she grew up in. That’s what Winter thinks.

A heartwarming, heart-burning, passionate, sexual, comical, and completely original adventure is about to happen in real time - raw, shocking, soulful, and shameless. True fans won’t let Winter travel alone on this amazing journey.

Critic reviews

"Long fully embodies Winter's brash and bold personality - a small thing like death isn't going to keep the Santiaga princess from claiming her rightful place in this world or the next." (AudioFile Magazine)

THE TITLE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF

OMG I DID NOT EXPECT THIS BOOK TO BE SO DEEP!! I TOTALLY DIFFERENT DIRECTION THAN WHAT I WAS EXPECTING BUT IT WAS VERY GOOD IT MAKES YOU THINK YOU MAKES YOU THINK ABOUT THE THINGS THAT WE DO IN LIFE AND THE CHOICES THAT WE MAKE. IT'S VERY GOOD I ENJOYED IT. IT STARTS TO COME TOGETHER ONCE YOU GET PAST CHAPTER 7 AFTER THAT I WAS HOOKED.

Disappointing

I read “Coldest Winter Ever” and was so excited to read the follow on. This book was nothing like the previous. It was confusing and hard to follow. I was almost at the end before I realized what was going on. I’m hoping the author will go back to her original style and write some books.

Give the book a chance!

It starts off very slow and gets very weird and uncomfortable to say the least, but keep listening. It gets better and delivers a powerful message.

I enjoy Sister Souljah as and author. I understand her Direction but this one was tough it was so anticipated and all we got was HELL literally. Not complaining but I kind of am.
If we're going to drag this out like Midnight's story can we please get a book once a year please don't make us wait 20 more years!

It was aight…

The Winter Santiaga is not so much of who I thought she was. I found her to be very into herself and I found that to be annoying. Loved her in coldest winter though. The descriptions of the realms of the under world and what was supposed to be the journey to heaven was weird af! It was very descriptive and kinda distorted. I really wanted to know what ever happened to her home girls, pretty and Bridget. I guess we gotta wait another 20 years to find out.

You have to see it through….

Unlike like The Coldest Winter Ever, where Winter was wild and cutting up. This book is more about her self journey/ self awaking. The beginning was fast and shocking, I wished the author would have slowed it down some. It does get a little iffy, especially if you are very religious. Overall if you are open minded and mature this is a good listen. And you won’t be disappointed with the ending.

This was weird

Thee weirdest book that I have ever read/listen too. Religion is a very important yet shakey subject to get into but for the most part i understood the motive & applaud the outcome while remaining in character 👏🏽

Okay at best

The first few chapters and the last are only worth reading . Overly wordy like a school paper you are trying to get to the required length. Doesn’t really seem written by the same person .

Not what I expected!

This novel made me think on a deeper level. A very UNEXPECTED story.
Nia Long's performance helped me stick with the novel.

Unexpected

If you came to this book expecting what you read many years ago, you will be disappointed and dissatisfied with this book.
Sister Souljah goes beyond being a character in the first book trying to guide young women to the author trying to guide us all.
