Invaluable advice!

This book is very well written and contains so much advice for parents of teens with autism.

Raising a child with autism can be very challenging. Helping them prepare for life as an adult even more so. This book gives advice on how to teach a child with teen life skills such as personal hygiene, and household chores.

The author has some great hacks for this as well! You may know that autistic people thrive on routine and rules. My favorite quote from this book is "Use this to your advantage."

By this, the author goes into detail how you can get your teen to things correctly by making it a routine to be adhered to. For example: give every step with as much detail as possible, such as how long to wash hands or brush teeth.

I highly recommend this book to all parents of autistic children.

Dealing with an Autistic child

A very written book that is a wealth of knowledge on helping parents deal with Autistic children and their different needs that will help them along the way as they grow into adulthood. Things such as constructive guidance in accomplishing simple tasks and the small victories of completing those tasks with patience, love, and understanding. And then building up to the more advanced tasks of making decisions of their own and learning how to express themselves in a positive manner while learning how to cope with their own emotions. Having worked with an Autistic child of a single mom, who was a friend of my son while growing up, I learned first-hand that with proper guidance and teaching, they can accomplish many positive things and it makes them feel better about themselves and gives them a sense of pride of accomplishment.
